A problem for STAR

by Forbury Lion » 31 Jul 2006 19:33

My neighbour has been saving up and finally has enough to get him and his 7 year old son season tickets, the club took all the details on the phone and said there were no problems.

When he went to the stadium to pay he was told his kid is 30 points short, this is because his kid was originally too young to have a member card so all the points were put on his Dad's card.

If the points on the Dad's card were re-allocated to the son's they would both have more than enough to get season tickets, however the ticket office are standing firm and refusing to allow him to get two season tickets. His son is quite upset and the dad was quite angry (although he's calmed down now)

Do STAR have any suggestions?

This is a difficult one as there are a lot of such stories out there and only so many season tickets available. There is little to be done short term other than to appeal as a special case as the rules have been applied correctly. Points are not transfereable and never have been so the reallocation was never something envisaged as possible despite it being convenient. The appeal should be on the basis that the son was not old enough to gain points but as he is 7 even that is pushing his case.

There are several ways in which the Royalty points system could be improved but despite vague suggestions of making it fair no-one has yet actually sent us specific improvements. The trouble with making it fair is that it depends on your circumstances as to what you consider fair - it is subjective not objective.

Get the kid a star membership = 10 pionts
and a Feyenoord ticket = 20 pionts
Problem solved

Kid already has a Feyenoord ticket, He would get STAR membership too if that was going to make up the total in time.

Another Feyenoord ticket? Or can't you have two lots of Royalty points for it?

If the points kids points were added to the Dad's card then the Dad could now have more than the theoretical maximum number of Royalty Points.

Putting the kids points on the Dad's card must also be against the 'rules' but if it was done then it shows that there is some flexibility in the system.

Previously points have also been transferred between cards when member card holders became half season ticket holders.
