Stewarding today in Y26

by royal-biscuit-man » 03 Jan 2011 19:33

Hassled a little bit today. However, not as bad as previous weeks, thoughts?

Try reading the terms and conditions under which you purchase tickets.

There have been plenty of meetings, usually no one that complains bothers going along. Standing is allowed at moments of excitement, persistant standing is not allowed.

Funny that you expect others to go and try to get it sorted on your behalf, I wonder if the STAR people get victimised by "Mr Doyle and his cronies" have you contacted your MP about the safe standing campaign yet?

I never saw any heavy handedness today at all. To me it seemed to be a token gesture of walking up the stand to attempt to get people to sit. I've seen worse and perhaps some supporters should realise that.

To be fair representing the fans on this kind of issue is exactly the kind of thing that STAR, or any half decent fans representative body, should be doing though isn't it?

I think STAR are doing/have done quite a bit of work on this issue though, but that doesn't mean the original request is that wide of the mark.

TBf, the stewarding yesterday was going fine until the orange brigade waded in with their usual over-zealous attitude.

In Y25 we had a bit of banter with our "usual" steward and by the time he'd walked back down the stairs, 99% of the people round me were sat down. A couple of minutes later, 4 tangos marched up to the top of Y25 and Y26 and seemed hell bent on shouting at people to sit down within a second or two of them standing up.

At Ht, I spoke to our "usual" steward about this and even he said he thought the tangos had been overzealous in their stewarding.

Yellowcoat - would you call standing up for a period of a few seconds and then sitting down again "persistent standing"?

That would be the original post that has now been fully edited, so no one can read it.

HSSC is right in that we have done just that half a dozen times and the most that came was a handful and once I was the only supporter there. However despite that we continue to try and are planning a fans forum soon that will have part about stewarding and policing and part ex-players, so you may soon get the chance to ask your questions face to face.

I guess it's too much to expect us to be excited for a full 90 mins.
