JayRoyal

Whilst I wouldn't want to knock your effort, I just think that a just blue and white badge, on a blue and white shirt would look that good.

Could you knock up a whole Maiwan Lion in goldon a shield of blue and white hoops, with a gold crown hovering above it's head if you get the chance?

What's the point? Why spend the time and money to change something that's fairly well known and recognisable, as brands go.

Generally, clubs typically only change their crests for copyright reasons - e.g. when it's being copied left right and centre or is old and hasn't been properly copyrighted (I think the latter reason is why we changed it last time).

So unless that's the case, why bother?

New regime, new badge? Worked for Smee.

There was no vote for the current badge. An earlier poster has the story pretty much right. I did see the 1996-97 design suggestions and they were pants (not literally). What we ended up with - the current badge - isn't a great deal better but it is reasonably recognisable at a distance.

And copyrighted and registered at the time of issue so we can take legal action against anyone putting it onto illicit merchandise - I don't think that was ever done with the last one.

It was changed last time as part of the move to Madejski Stadium. It was as part of a whole new rebranding of the club.

Hate the current badge, I'd be happy to see it go. Some decent alternatives posted on this thread.

I've incorpor8ed the top of the Oxford Road Mosque to celebrate the multiculturalism and diversity in Reading. The Cock and bollocks represents graffiti and the general mess the town is. And Est. 2005 was when most plastics started supporting the club.

What has happened to you Brendifer? You've become a far more serious version of your former self. I blame the rock n' roll lifestyle taking it's toll.

Agreed. I probably wasn't a fan of it when it was first introduced but now really like it.
