Beer

by Elm Park Old Boy » 20 Feb 2014 14:49

Good news. Might even be tempted myself (having always avoided the usual piss on sale at the Mad Stad).

"The Royals are delighted to announce an agreement with local company West Berkshire Brewery, and we thought you would want to hear the news first!

We've been listening to your feedback in our supporter surveys, and as a result we will be holding a three match trial of the firm's award winning 'Good Old Boy' for the visits of Yeovil, Huddersfield, and Burnley.

The Brewery will be based outside the East Stand for each fixture, giving fans the opportunity to buy one of the area's most authentically local products."

Maybe we should have laid on cider for Yeovil, but never mind...

Excellent, I bet they'll sell it in plastic cups though.

Absolutely excellent news. One of the best things the club has done in some time. I may even go to a home game now.

This is actually better than anything I can imagine, even winning the Champions League.

Not a fan of beer personally but grown up in the villages surrounding the brewery. Good move by the club and I can imagine it would be a very popular choice with a lot of people.

I'll tell you this, they'd better be packing a lot of barrels as they'll be overrun by customers I would imagine.

We need more cider to coincide with the 'Reading Cider Crew'.

When ever we travel north of the border for football we always do a stop off and find a country pub, and none have ever charged anything like that. My last pint in a country pub cost me £1.80. More fool anyone paying up to £4 for a pint, I really don't enjoy a drink enough to make me want to pay that!

As a real ale drinker I'd suggest £3.50 is not far off average for down South.

Take into account this is a football ground where erything is massively overpriced I'm surprised anyone would object to that price.

Each to their own. I just don't think £3.50 for a pint is good value, and that's whether it's at football, a theatre or in a local. The idea though is a good one, and the Fosters at the club is bloody awful, so I'm sure it'll be a resounding success. I think the beer is on sale for a trial period.

Just grab some vouchers

. @ReadingFC: For those asking - it will be priced at £3.50 a pint, and keep an eagle eye out for some money off vouchers!

Interesting approach from the club. First it's sold outside the ground, so this isn't the crap outsourced catering in the concourse it's the club creating competition and as a result the WBB will be running it. Second this operation will be undercutting the prices in the concourse, for better beer.

The downside is they'll only have good old boy so if you happen to be with some who wants to drink Lager or cider that means 2 queues.

I'd of preferred the inept caterers to run a guest beer at this price like they do at Brighton.

Yeah good luck getting GOB for £1.80 north of the border m8.

Though for comparison sake you can get a 5 bed semi for a few hundred grand less up there as well. Oh and the average wage is a lot lower. Hardly something to compare.
