I have brought a hip flask into the Madejski several times and supped neat liquor during a match and it didn't turn into the Heysel disaster or anything.

When I was around 12 or 13, my grandpa had a hip flask with whiskey in it. My dad told him he couldn't drink from it in his seat, and my grandpa said 'Fukk off, Mike. I'm your dad and I can do what I want.' It was the first time I ever heard him swear and it still makes me laugh to this day.

I don't think he has been involved in any stadium disasters, either, but he did tell me that he clogged a toilet on a cruise ship.

bobby1413 Also I don't see why they take bottle tops off you anyway. When was the last time any one threw one? Why not use a coin if you really want to chuck something
The official health and safety reason is that a bottle with a lid on left on the ground can be an accident waiting to happen if someone steps on it during the game or more likely during a stampede out of the stadium in an emergency, With no lid the bottle is more likely to just crush underfoot.

I assumed it was because with a lid you can launch the full thing which is more of a weight to the head as opposed to half the contents spilling out before hitting a passing child?

Apparently not, STAR did put me right on this after I suggested it was possible to throw a bottle without a lid relatively easily with the right technique so why remove the tops?

People I know put the tops in their pockets when they enter the stadium with their drinks and just put it back on afterwards.

Apparently cola is good for your digestion... you'll lose your teeth but it helps you digest the food you can't chew anymore.
And at one time didn't Lucozde promote itself as an "Aids recovery" drink ?

I just did a massive LOL in the office. Fortunately, no one sits near me so I got away with it.

Is fizzy water bad for you?

East Grinstead Royal I was surprised to be sold a bottle of Coke - unopened - on Saturday instead of the usual cardboard cup with lid, particularly as I have had to surrender the lids from drinks I've taken into the stadium in the past.

this just makes it worse.
my godson was sat next to me when the steward came up, holding his still sealed bottle of coke, and the bloke did bugger all about it.

im glad to have your support.

a letter is a pretty good idea

in hindsight, an anonymous post on a shadowy corner of a message board was possibly not the best place for me to get justice

Plenty of shadowier corners on this portal than Club Policies.

It's relatively well lit by comparison.
