They have one now :|

Don't think the one now would cope with double the number of people needing to use it.....

I'd imagine they'd increase the number of buses?

Obvious really. There's going to be hundreds of buses sat around Reading every other Saturday just doing nothing, and the drivers to drive them.

How about a tram service?! Start at the Station and use the rail line to Green Park, then a new line out to REP and on to Shinfield Lower Earley, drop through Earley and rejoin the rail line into the Station. Simple!

(No I don't think it is likely but it would be good!)

Hundreds? How much do you think REP will boost attendance by?

Also, if there's something to do at the ground the people using the buses will be spread over a longer period

Why would REP boost attendance ?
What methods are you proposing of getting 24,000 to and from games ?

A condition of every property bought is you must attend 95% of home games.

Very expensive to implement and trams don't do hills too well (especially up to Shinfield)....... Think the "burying-head-in-the-sand" will be the preferred option by all concerned .......apart from the punters of course.

Personally, I am still trying to get over the proposal of a multi-storey car park and the chaos that it will bring at full-time.

Think you will find that they are called "cable cars" for a reason

AthleticoSpizz Whilst sympathising with those affected who rely on their cars to attend games, one has to ask, just how many parking spaces were available in and around Elm Park?
Admittedly, Elm Park was a bit more walkable for those in and around the town.
.

Capacity and attendances at Elm Park?

Also plenty of reasonably safe street parking within easy walking distance.

bluerinse Have heard that the Planning Dept. of the Council think that the scheme is too big for the site. The club will asked to go back to the drawing board and not make the housing so dense.

There does appear to be an incredible amount of housing proposed for the area of land involved.

Interesting to see the stadium expansion plans have also been submitted as part of this.

Not sure that bit will ever take place but here's hoping we are doing well enough to warrant it!

I note the club are seeking to make a payment to RBC in lieu of putting any affordable housing units on the site.

I like it, but can't see it getting built unless the club get back into the Premier League.

Do you mean REP or the stadium extension ?
Don't think REP has any connection to which league we are in, and in many ways I could see promotion delaying it if anything. It doesn't rely on us being in the Prem for any significant aspect.
The stadium work, agreed, no reason to make the investment until we make the step forward on the pitch.

Interesting to note that they must intend to move the away fans as there is a new club class seating area in the South Stand
