genome The 106 Stand would be a terrible name, especially when someone breaks the record.

This...

I don't think it really matters whether someone was around when it happened or when a player was there. E.g. The Robin Friday stand would still be a great name, even if most of the stand wasn't around at the time. It's in honour of the player, and marking the impact they made.

Considering how short term our success has been I think it should called ' The One Night Stand'

It should be the " John Madjeski Stand" in recognition of what he has done for the club. This would allow for the stadium to be renamed and attract a major sponsor

The North Stand should be renamed 'The Southbank'.

Newcastle nearly did it last time..

They still finished 4 points off despite their last 15 matches reading: W12 D3 L0

Couldn't even beat Sunderland's previous best of 105.

Sunderland got 105?? When and how did I not know that? I always thought Newcastle were closest and that they finished on 103.. please excuse my ignorance.

To be fair finishing 4 points of is pretty close so my original comment still stands

Sunderland did it before us in 1998/99 so Newcastle have come the closest since we broke the record

I am a massive supporter and I am proud of the club but when your biggest achievement is the record points total in the second tier it really says something.

What about the Jimmy Quinn stand?

Unless they go down to a 20 team Championship making it harder for anyone to match or break our record

Perhaps the naming process can be extended to include the Bernal Bushes outside the East Stand?

To be fair, I was 9 and didn't support Reading then either.

I think it should be the Maurice Evans stand as it already has a plaque dedicated to him on the North Stand wall by the ticket office and he is actually a club legend. According to my dear old nan RIP and wikipedia he was a skilful, thoughtful player without an ounce of malice in him, playing 459 first-team games without being booked once. He returned to Elm Park as Charlie Hurley's assistant manager in 1974, and finally took over as manager in 1977. He managed the 1978–79 championship-winning team, securing the Manager Of The Year Award in the process. He remained Reading manager until 1984, making perceptive signings from non-league football such as Kerry Dixon, Trevor Senior.

For me this is exactly the sort of person a stand should be named after.

I read Kevin Phillips autobiography and he was saying how 105 was an amazing record that would likely never be beaten 8)

Of course, if plans go ahead to reduce the number of teams in the Championship down from 24 to 20 it will make it more difficult for anyone to match or beat our record with 24 fewer points up for grabs.

How about something a bit more obscure - "The Bridge Street Stand" in a nod to the fact the club were formed in a public meeting in Bridge Street.

Make a link to the current and future RFC back to it's very formation.

How about naming the North Stand The West Stand after ex-Reading employee Andy West?
