Derby signed a naming rights deal a few years ago for £10,000,000 over 7 years.

I don't think for one minute that we agreed a £1m a season deal with SCL, but it gives it some context.

Although, there's a chance that the Derby deal wasn't exactly above board either with all the other stuff Mel Morris got involved in.

Also, bigger stadium. Club doing consistently better at the equivalent time.

Really not sure 6000 extra seats makes a bit of difference tbf.

This club has never done well with any form of sponsorship. Each time we've been in the PL we've had the lowest amount from shirt deals and shirt sponsors. I always though that was Nigel Howe's fault, but it's no better since he left.

Leading to the most likely conclusion that major companies just don't see us as top-level attractive proposition. And they're probably right.

It's local sponsorship as well though. You look around the stadium and there are loads of spaces that can be exploited with sponsors, and even advertising hoardings we have to create our own RFC ones to fill spaces. We have never been any good at reaching out to the local community and drumming up business.
