World Cup Payments

by Stranded » 13 Oct 2022 13:09

It's been announced that clubs will be paid $10k per day for each day one of their players is at the World Cup starting from the official preparation period, which I believe kicks in on the 15th November.

We are likely to have 3 or 4 players in squads of Ghana, Senegal and Canada.

Based on group stages only if all 4 (Yiadom, Loum, Rahman and Hoilett) are picked, we would receive the following - my understanding is we get paid for loanees as they are essentially Reading players this year.

Yiadom & Rahman - $170k each
Hoilett - $160k
Loum - $140k

So $640k - or around 570k GBP.

Lovely that might help coming to arrangements with Dann and/or Moore in January.

Tournament starts on 20 Nov I think but obvs. players fly out probably 7-10 days or so before that.

For example, Ghana play on 24, 28 Nov and 2 Dec so if their squad reports for international duty on 13 November (not unreasonable) then it could be $200k plus for Rahman and double that if Yiadom is selected. Hope Rahman has recovered from injury by then!

For the record Reading “finish” away at Hull on 12 Nov and are back again at home v Coventry on 10 Dec

Or, as Stranded says, the international duty window starts on November 15th?
