£5 from Charvil, and theres only one bus which runs the risk of missing it totally. I think I'll still be getting the train and shuttle service from the station

Not sure whether this applies, but I seem to remember reading something at the bus stop the other day which said if you're 16 to 19 but still in full time education then you qualify for a discount. Could be wrong though so you might want to check out the Reading buses website...

You need an ID card from Reading Buses, at a cost of £5 to get child fares. You need to get your application stamped by the place where you're in full time education.

£3.50 up to £5 for the Urban Buses, total rip off. The following letter has been sent off to Reading Buses, suggest others do the same. (For all the good it will do!) sales@gogoldline.com

Dear sirs,

While I understand Reading Football Club having to raise the prices of seasons tickets and match day prices to compete in the Premiership, I fail to understand how a rise of £1.50 compared to last season is justified on the urban bus service. The buses are always packed full (often at times last season to dangerous levels) and yet your company sees fit to increase prices by 42.86 %, forcing fans to pay the price for a successful football club. I trust if Reading are relegated, prices will drop, as I envisage season ticket prices will. Or is your company simply after a slice of the Premiership pie?

Yours, a dissatisfied customer,

XXXXXX XXXXXXX

PS While I am on my soapbox, I feel that the urban buses leaving one hour before kick-off for evening games is walking a very fine line getting people to the match on time, especially considering buses leave 90 minutes before Saturday games.

Does that mean the 78 misses out all the weaves and turns through the Westside (innit) Reading area? Southcote road...?

A £1 rise on the shuttle from the station in two seasons. What a joke. Considering I can get from outside my house on the 17 all the way to the Three Tuns for £1.30 that is a huge increase

Indeed, I look forward to an increased reliability of service and the ability of Blakey to board several buses at once as a result of this shocking prie hike.

fat fooking chance

so is it now £3 return from the station to the ground ?

and am i right in thinking that its less for the same journey during the day (seem to remember going to a reserve game last season at about 2.00 pm and it being £2.00 as opposed to the £2.50 for the football buses ?)

if that is the case i'd love to know their justification for the huge rise over the past 2 seasons (£2 up to £3)

No, as demand increases, so does the price; it is increased supply which reduces prices.

Try telling Tesco and other retailers that one then!!

3 new routes, extra supply, so yours falls at the first hurdle

The website is not really very clear.

How much is the 75 route return now? For a 16 year-old? Without a Readi-ID (Rip-off scam!)!
