Royals credit card - don't rush in!

by royal goof » 08 Sep 2006 15:55

I had a RFC credit card when they were first announced by Bank of Scotland a few years ago. It was more of a novelty because it was in a blue and white hooped design and had quite a competitive rate. I think it also donated money to the club when you made purchases.

Then a couple of years ago MBNA took over Bank of Scotland Mastercard... The interest rates increased, the customer service was very poor and they changed the card to silver with a small badge that you can hardly notice. On top of that I received no end of junk mail from MBNA.

As far as I can tell this 'offer' isn't much better and doesnt seem to give any money to the club.

In my opinion it is not worth the hassell - there are other cards with much better interest rates/perks out there. And this will mean you save more money to spend on the club in other areas if you wish!

Just thought i'd share my experience - other people may have had different experiences which is fair enough. Cheers.

I got one too about 3 to 4 years ago.

I only have as an emergency credit card however they keep offering 0% balance transfers for the life of the balance which I have taken up on so quite useful.

Do what I did, just stick a Reading badge on your regular credit card.

Just remember, using MBNA credit cards helps support Aston Villa, in the same way that buying from JJB Sports supports Wigan.

Buy wisely - don't support our Premier League rivals.

Why haven't the club done one of these for 2010/11 season?

STAR should really be dealing with this kind of nonsense by the club
