New shirts next year

by Adrian's Fool » 09 Mar 2007 11:57

Note the reference here: http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10306~976888,00.html

to the Premier League changing the names and numbering on shirts next year - I presume this will mean a "new" shirt again for those who have names and numbers printed on them?

Don't get me wrong, I couldn't really give a fig, as I've never been one to bother with getting the latest design, but (considering the debate there has been over prices etc.) why do they feel to need to tamper every year?

That would be a surprise, as we had both a new home and away kit for this season.

No it wouldn't. For the last few years we have made the previous seasons away kit the third choice kit after one years usuage, and then coming out with a new away kit.
So it is possible.

Totally agree.
Always bought one but I rarely wear them to games and i don't wear it casually, so it's a waste of money.

I would rather spend the £40 on tickets & travel to an away game than the club replica shirts, enough people buy them now anyway.

Does that mean that before, you felt a responsibility to buy a shirt because not enough people did??

It means that there are more mugs who are prepared to spend £40 year in year out.

I refer you to my post.

What is currently our third choice kit was last seasons away kit. This expires this summer and what is now the away kit (red) will become next years third choice and a new away kit will launch this summer.

(IF) the trend continues!

As of a couple of weeks ago the club were still exchanging these dodgy shirts. Take them back.

I would feel embarrased to try it on with my son's. It is disgusting, even when boiled.

Are they not changing the numbers because the premier league have dropped the "FA" bit from their name. They could just change that instead of an all new shirt but then they wouldn't be able to releive a lot of people of another £40. Personally, it would be nice to have hoops back again with a blue panel and number instead of a completely blue back.

so far this season my home shirt has gone back about 4 times!! The collor split, the sleve split away from the shirt, after one wash it came up all bobbly and the last time the dye ran something terrible. At least the 5th shirt has been ok since i got it (touches wood)
