WC 2014 - Match 8 - Côte d'Ivoire vs Japan

Yep, this one's going to get watched on the highlights tomorrow. Tight game, I'm going to opt for Toure's class to show in a 2-0 win for the elephants.

Got a soft spot for Japan, always play good football and I think they are a bit more street smart in major tournaments than Cote D'Ivoire, who are probably the pundit's choice purely because they have more players the likes of Andy Townsend have actually heard of.

I'm going 2-1 Japan

I love Africa and want African teams to do well. I want Pele's prediction to come true in his lifetime.

But then I also want Asian teams to do well.

May the best team win.

Lovely goal from Honda and Japan started with a hiss and a roar but have gone off the boil in the last 10 minutes or so.

Dangerous place for a free kick to Ivory Coast - Over the top - Just!

Half time.http: Ivory Coast 0 Japan 1.

Been a bit one-sided since about the 15th minute, with Japan only being able to launch the occasional counter-attack, but Ivory Coast haven't been able to find a way through.

Well... That was a long time coming 1 - 1. Second din't take too long though. 2 - 1 Ivory Coast.

Turning point seems to have been when Drogba was subbed on.

Final score: 2 - 1 Ivory Coast.

Didn't see the Colombia Vs Greece game, but the Japs may have a reasonable shot at getting through to the second round.

If you had seen it, you'd know Japan's chances of getting through aren't great.

Saw the replay and still think they may get second in the group. We'll see.

Drogba - total game changer. The Japanese looked good but couldn't perform up front.
