Awful defending again. Their positional sense is hopeless.

Wow. Talk about bottling a chance to get back into it. Utterly abysmal penalty. Passed it to the keeper ffs.

Shame but USA were by far the better team tonight.

Entertaining game. England had their chance to level. Surprised that the effort from Houghton was so poor, because she is such a very good player. The Lionesses should not have their heads in their hands. They are an outstanding team that pushed the US to the brink. Of course I am very happy but I won't be celebrating here...

Piss off yank

Tbf we will let you have this. We are better at every other sport apart from rugby with pads and nobody cares about that.

Jeez, if a central defender is going to take a penalty the least they can do is give it a fcuking good whack.

Shame, but we were 2nd best in most departments.

Same old England men or women we are a nation of losers. Mentally weak happy to be plucky losers instead of arrogant winners. Germany USA and Australia all arrogant big heads all winners. They don’t care what people think of them as long as they win. If you want to make friends go down the pub. We turn up to major tournaments hoping to win the others expect to win.

will be the same with the cricket team and the rugby later in the year. Just failure after failure I don’t why we even bother. If they gave world cups to making money then the FA RFU ECB and LTA would all have multiple stars above there badges.

At least you're not going to overreact

Finally got drawn in last night, thought it was pretty average fare really, although Lucy Bronze does seem to have decent ball skillz, appaling positioning though. As Glen Little said on twitter, can you imagine England getting a penalty in a World Cup semi and Harry Kane saying to Harry Maguire "you have it", madness.

Reminded me of England men 2002 to 2016.
When it matters the "legends" and "World Class" players like "Lamps", "Stevie G", "Becks" that fans hold up so highly fail to put their foot on the ball and have an inability to pass it 5 yards when it really matters.
I couldnt believe what I was watching last night. Couldnt pass, dribble, head the ball, or even hit a clean penalty......Wonder what it is with England players that they lack? Is it a mentality issue?

More bemused by the US thinking it was the height of banter, whereas it made most English people go :|

Quite. So she pretended to drink tea. Because we're English. It's not offensive, or threatening, it's cheeky and wasn't directed at England fans but just a nod to who she had scored against. Pathetic reaction to it.

As for Houghton, it's overlooked that she is one of a free-kick takers, has taken penalties for City, and has been practicing penalties in training as backup to Parris. It was a poor effort, but a little silly to ask 'why did she take it?'
