bobby1413 I think the whole 1st place and 2nd place thing is distracting, adds nothing and is just annoying.
Just have top two win and qualify
All qualifiers go into a draw.
Sick of all this "would've better to finish second" bullshit

the downside is you get weaker teams fluking draws

Let's run it every year then. Could be like the FA cup. Something to look forward to every June and July

Worryingly no
Good points with regards to the draw issue. Travelling amen preparation for fans/teams is a big issue. Can see why it wouldn't work

Sebastian the Red Colombia and then Sweden or Switzerland? Genuinely our best chance at getting to the semis in a generation.

Sweden are a bit of a bogey team though aren't they? Certainly the sort of organised hard workers who will give us problems.
I just think we should back ourselves and not obsess about finding an easy route through. We'll have to try and beat someone good at some point. Don't see much difference between losing to the first top club we play whether it's in the second round or semi.
I'd rather we faced a not very impressive Brazil, for example, and got the knockout experience against a 'top' side.

CountryRoyal I’d say we’re just as likely to lose to Spain as we were to Brazil and losing to Spain in a semi-final > losing to Brazil in a quarter final.

Maybe, but losing to Brazil in the Qs is >>>>> than losing to Columbia in the second round or Sweden / Switzerland in the Qs. Which would be a big morale blow and after our start make our world cup look a big failure, especially given our approach to Belgium
