Maidenhead have had their game Saturday postponed owing to having had 3 players called up for Montserrat.

The article linked is all about Montserrat and it is a good read.

But in the showdown,

Heard that Martinique are a tough team to break down and will therefore put my money on them to win.

Not much action on this thread as of late. Down to the last 2 teams, predictably the US and Mexico. They will play at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday to determine the champion and CONCACAF's next entrant into the Confederations Cup. Historically the US has only won 1 of the 5 final games played between the 2 countries to decide the winner of this competition so, unlike the US women, my expectations are low for this one.

Confederations Cup no longer exists. Whilst I'm sure the Gold Cup is a decent tournament, with 2 particuarly strong sides in the region, it feels a bit meh - looking at the finals played since 1991, when the Gold Cup started. Only 1 final has failed to have at least one of them in it - Canada 2 Colombia 0 in 2000. At least they are expanding it to give other countries in the region tournament experience and hopefully raise the standard of competition.

I missed the news in March that the Confederations Cup is no more. And your take on the Gold Cup is spot on. I'm just not sure how much benefit the competition will provide to the smaller CONCACAF nations. I guess it will be an exercise in bragging rights for the US-Mexico rivalry from here on out.

My low expectations were justified. US lost to Mexico one goal to nil...I hate losing to Mexico. Well, at least we have the women...
