John Madejski's Wallet Think our group is definitely the hardest tbh.......though there aren't any groups of death

Seriously? I think it’s one of the weakest groups. I would expect England to win the group fairly comfortably.

I think even if Wales did qualify they would get through that group even losing to England. USA scraped through an easy federation. God knows how Iran got there.

The Welsh & Scotch have to be happy with that. If they get there then they have a real chance of getting out the group stage.

USA & Iran were the weakest teams in pots 2 & 3!

I'm many things but I do not love Chris Gunter! Deeply offensive.

Sanguine For all the shitness of Qatar/human rights/a World Cup in December, I'm looking forward to the tournament and will watch every second.

As always appears to be the case, everyone will be hoping for Switzerland/USA as a pot 2 draw. As Winst highlights, Senegal are probably the dangerous team in Pot C.

Hopefully Qatar get a strong Pot B side, to stop their group becoming too soft. Can see Canada maybe springing a surprise or two.

Down to Poland in 26th in the FIFA rankings, only Italy (6), Colombia (17) and Sweden (19) have missed out, albeit Wales (18) and Peru (22) still to play.

Question - Wales are ranked above Senegal, has the postponement of their play-off relegated them to pot 4 so that the draw can be carried out? Not that it makes much difference, but they'd be in pot 3 on ranking alone.

Yep Wales are of a sufficient ranking to be in pot 3 but FIFA in their wisdom chose to base the final European play off place based on Scotland’s ranking of 39.

Presumably because they're expecting Scotland to go through

6ft Kerplunk Why not wait until all the teams have qualified before doing the draw?

The European playoff is understandable but the international playoffs were always scheduled to be after the draw weren't they?

Yeah, I think they got pushed back because of COVID though, I didn't realise the ROW play-offs were actually played in Qatar as well.

Why don't we know all the teams?

Usually all the teams would be known before the World Cup draw but this year three positions are yet to be decided for two reasons.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine delayed the European play-off, while the coronavirus pandemic accounts for the other delays.

Two intercontinental finals will be played in Qatar on 13 and 14 June. Costa Rica and New Zealand meet in one and in the other Peru will play the winner of the United Arab Emirates v Australia, who meet in the Asian play-off in Doha on 7 June.

Those games were moved from March because of knock-on effects of the Covid pandemic in each continent. All the Oceania qualifiers were played from 17-30 March in a mini-tournament in Qatar.

They did so by easily qualifying from the Asian Group (the one that the Aussies need to qualify from via the play offs); they are no push overs and not to be taken lightly.

In fact, I think that Iran will go through with England.

I'd also add that seeing they've qualified for 5 out of the last 7 World Cups, it isn't that much of a surprise.

No offense to the Welshies on here, but I really hope Scotland make it through.

There is a huge difference for us in playing Scotland or Wales. It would be great to experience an England Vs Scotland match in a WC.
