Sun Tzu He has a point Frimmers.

25 years ago a player briefly played on loan at Aldershot, 15 years later he won a Champions League medal. That's an extremely tenuous link.

If it really floats your boat then the answer is that yes, we have had a player who won a European Cup medal playing in the Reading shirt.

So end of discussion really.

champions league was what we were after....do try and keep up...

Change of name does not change the matter in question (much like with football clubs...)

so..there is no reading player that has ever won a champions league medal then....

Who fookin cares about aldershite & who they sign ? Can you not whack this on the aldershite chat forum. It's boring & pathetic.

in 1984-85, Aldershot took a young striker at the time on loan from Millwall - Teddy Sheringham. Millwall manager George Graham had been willing to sell Sheringham to Aldershot on a permanent basis, but they couldn't raise the £5,000 fee. perhaps because "f.c" were about to go bust.

aldershot were about to go bust in 84/85? Aldershot didn't go bust for another seven years, but you always were a bit sketchy about your own club's history.

I think they couldn't raise £5000 because they were a poorly supported club, even by 4th division standards, much like now really. Av crowd of 2009 that season.

No Reading player has ever won the champions league or european cup, quite obviously because Reading haven't won either. No former Reading player has gone on to win the champions league with a club afterwards either, but you'd really need to be scraping the barrel in desperation to glean any sense of pride out of the fact that an unknown 18 year old youth player from Millwall played 6 games without scoring during a loan spell at Aldershot, and then went on to have a successful career. The less you have, the more you value that little, I guess.

But anyway, about going bust in 1985. Care to shed any light on that?

I noticed your team have just signed a Reading academy reject who was released by the mighty Basingstoke Town at the end of last season.

I think it's standard practice that if you answer a question correctly you aren't required to have another go....
