Has there been a law change?

by Big Foot » 22 Aug 2010 22:19

Noticed at the game yesterday the subs were warming up towards the North Stand when the lino was running towards the South, I thought subs had to warm up behind the lino but not read anything in pre-season to suggest this had changed?

Their, their - it's not something you should spend too much time worrying over.

Don't think it is anything that the laws of the game would cover.

Possibly a competition rule (and it would be much more logical to have the subs warming up away from the lino)

Could also just be what the club has said should happen (as mentioned above).

I noticed this too in the first game of the season (I didn't go to the Forest game). Yes the old rule was that subs had to warm up in the same half of the pitch as the linesman though not sure why. I can only assume either FIFA have changed the rule to prevent subs abusing linesmen on offsides, fouls etc or the English FA have, or as Sun Tzu has mentioned the Football League may have introduced a competition rule.

Could someone ask G Poll (Tilehurst) for the official rule if they see him wandering around?

I would have thought having subs training opposite a lino could cause confusion on off-sides if he's see's someone out of his periphery... but then they wear lime bibs
