Maguire It's not though, is it?

I don't understand the whole "yeah we paid 35M fro Andy Carroll but we got 50M for Torres so overall we made 15M" mentality

No, YOU PAID 35M FOR ANDY CARROLL. Doesn't matter where the money came from.

err...it's a fairly well known LFC transfer spending internet meme gr8 m8

Sanguine Sakho the big disappointment on that list. He's always a beast for France, but has been awful for Liverpool.

See, Sakho would be one of the four I wouldn't say they overpaid for, alongside Sturridge, Coutinho and Mignolet. Assaidi was a big flop, but for £3m you'd almost expect that. Everyone was far too expensive IMO.

Rodgers has bought a bit too much for the future - it's where Liverpool's transfer policy gets a bit confusing.

Emre Can might prove a bargain at £9.75m, he's considered one of the best young defensive midfielders in Europe. Hasn't shown it for Liverpool though. In fact that's a bit of a trend. Sakho, Can, Markovic too who was wanted by Chelsea and Arsenal and has been thought the next 'big thing' for a couple of years - none have really looked worthy of the hype yet.

I think Origi will prove a great buy at that price. He looked electric at the World Cup.

I think buying Ricky Lambert and Mario Ballotelli as your replacement for Suarez is where Rodgers has had a 'mere.

They had a list of Liverpool transfers in the Guardian at the weekend (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/31/liverpool-signings-brendan-rodgers) and it makes awful reading. I hadn't realised how much they had spent on weak non-UK players I had never heard of before and haven't seen much of since.

Most big teams have a low hit-rate for transfers though: Man United spent millions for years on de Gea and a load of rubbish.

Borini is under-used, imho. He was decent for a struggling Sunderland side last season, 10 goals wasn't it?

Be interesting to see if Chelsea rest any players for sat :?

Saturday should be one of those games that brings out the inner child in everyone, Liverpool are desperate to put one over on Chelsea.....it's not hard to detect the seething thirst for revenge from all at LFC.

NFA is right though isn't he?

BR clearly wasn't that fussed about his team away at Real Madrid with sat on his mind = We're going to go all out to seek revenge for the title busting 0-2 in April.

Could prove to be a bit amateurish if they don't win and I can't see that going down too well with LFC fans who only used to consider Chelsea a minor irritant instead of their main priority, especially when they've just turned up at the Bernabeu to play a glorified friendly.

So funny Liverpool fans defending the team selection last night. Saying their team have been sh1t lately - so they all deserved to be dropped and BR made the right decision. So by that reckoning, come Sunday, I would expect most of those who started against Madrid to start against us........

It's also nice that Liverpool get an extra days rest as per usual.
