I did wonder. It's annoyingly difficult to find lists of all-time English football records, everything refers to 'of the Premier League era', albeit it does appear Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten home run under Mourinho is an all-time English league record. Liverpool's 51 is second since the Premier League's inception.

Reading once held the Football League record for home games without defeat: 55 set in 1935. Millwall beat the record in 1967.

Got it! The previous top flight unbeaten home record was Liverpool who went 85 games unbeaten from 7 February 1978 to 31 January 1981.

Ridiculous you have to do extra digging as all the media think football only started in 1992.

I started looking but gave up for precisely that reason.

Look at the comments about Gylfi on Twitter from Everton fans! We need to win the play-offs and save him from the Scousers!

Thought Liverpool’s fullbacks were superb, as was Chirivella. Ironically thought Jones was one of their poorer players until he got that sweet shot

Experience of Adrian, Gomez, Lallana and Origi vital too, thought they may have been in trouble when Milner went off

Everton should just fold the club...start up again under a new name!

Complete nonsense, Jones was good the whole game.

Much being made of Curtis Jones' goal and performance against Everton, but for me the standout was Harvey Elliott, 16 years old (and not 17 until April) and gliding around the pitch like he owned the place.

Agreed but he needs to have the mentality to keep improving and not thinking he’s already made it like many youngsters (Hudson Odoi for one) to reach maximum potential

People always react more to goals and local lad, scoring the winner in a derby game is some story.
Also very articulate for an 18 year-old interviewed fresh after the game.

I agree about Elliott-just like Rooney when first in the Everton side, this lad already has the physique and presence of a man.
The other encouraging performances were from Trent part 2 in Neco Williams (one of yours I think ZIP and already better than Gunter  ) and the young French lad who was rushed into replacing Milner and ended up playing well enough to get Walcott substituted.

Liverpool got away with it in the first half but dominated the second so much that Everton didn't have a shot on target.

Breaking news coming out of Liverpool that in the aftermath of the Everton game, some of the Liverpool players have tested positive for Calpol.

Just 35 points needed now, so they need a maximum of 12 wins from their final 17 games, and that's assuming City win their next 16 in a row. Every chance the title will be decided by the time Liverpool visit the Etihad at the start of April.

Yep - this is actually going to be their year, no one is going to stop them.

They'd have to suffer about 10 long term injuries for them to lose this.

Despite City thumping Villa at the weekend you just know they will have at least one more slip up this season, I just don't think they are as mentally strong as they were, Kompany not being around might be a factor to that, not sure Arteta leaving will help them either as he was likely the good cop to Pep's bad cop.

Another crazy stat is that since Klopp's still transitional team lost 4-1 at White Hart Lane in October 2017, Liverpool have lost just 4 times in 88 games.

Talking of transition, or rather standing still - were Lloris and Kane not injured, eight of Spurs' starting XI on that day would have started against Liverpool on Saturday evening.
