A strange game yesterday.
Liverpool were near their fluent best for 70 minutes or so, including a gem of a goal / move from Salah.

Then calamity time admittedly against one of the top sides in the division.
What a game to make your debut in , against a fit-again Vardy et al.

This season Liverpool are the equivalent of City last season and , as we are constantly told, it is difficult in England to defend a title, injuries or no injuries.

I don't think Kabak was particularly at fault for the Vardy goal and I don;t think he did that badly overall
We were watching with no crowd noise and the shout from the keeper was ... non-existent
I would have expected Allison to be bawling 'keepers' to let him know to get out of the way

Yeah that goal is 100% the ‘keepers error if he didn’t call for it.

I think Bro is a closet Liverpool fan-he posts more on this topic than any other.

Looking ahead, I posted elsewhere the other day how much Harvey Elliott seems to have come on as a result of playing regularly at Blackburn where he has been their star man.
IMHO he may well be back around the first team squad last season.

Agree - although IIRC there was similar talk with Brewster in the summer and it never materialised

I think Liverpool may have a bit of a clear out this summer in terms of backup players who haven’t quite made the grade and they need, IMO, to cut their losses on their injury prone players who can’t play more than two weeks without picking up an injury

So the likes of Matip, Keita, Ox, Shaqiri, Origi are all possibly in danger, with Wijnaldum looking likely to leave and the jury being out on Thiago also

I think Thiago stays and maybe Keita, there's a gem of a player there. And maybe Liverpool's strategies and tactics might change. I'd love to see Elliott come back and get a run in the side, but it will involve that front three getting broken up.

I'm not 100% convinced Klopp sticks around, you know. He has spoken before about walking away when the time is right, he did that at Dortmund and wasn't necessarily up for the Liverpool job when it came along. He's looked pretty broken these last couple of weeks, of course related to his mother passing, but I wonder if he might walk away, not least if FSG's approach stays the same. An Mbappe or Haaland would put a new stake in the ground, but I can't see the owners funding it.

Elliott was absolutely tearing it up at Blackburn when he first went. Not heard much after his first few weeks there

4 goals and 8 assists in 21+2 appearances is pretty decent.

Exactly the same stats for Olise, but he has 4 more sub appearances (110 minutes difference in playing time).

hi 5 Spizz.

The relegation battle could be interesting if Fulham could put a few results together.

6-pointer for Fulham next, at Burnley. Win that and then beat Sheffield United at home, and it begins to pull Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle back into it a bit. Newcastle go to Chelsea and United next.

surprised he hasn't taken some time off and I don't think any LFC fan would begrudge him, either.

I was all over the shop for about a month when my father died.

Just a bad season for the mighty Reds. Can't judge on a season like this when even Manure are (just) in the running for the title.

Once Virgil is back so the midfielders can actually play in midfield and hopefully the possibility of Mbappe signing, if PSG accept they need to cash in because he's not going to sign a new contract, the title will return to its rightful home. 8)

When a manager has won the Champions League and their first title in 30 years, I think he can be allowed one poor season, particularly considering Liverpool have played with such high intensity for 2 years and are hit by injuries to key players.
