A much forgotten thread this. I was reminded of it when I saw Kes' tweet blaming VAR for their failure in beating Utd.

7th home defeat (this season) now for Frank Lampard's Chelsea. Natives a bit restless on the phone-ins last night. One cited Fwank as 'clueless'

4 wins in the last 12

Next fixtures are Spurs, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Everton, Villa, Man City

No easy ones in that, haven't they been troubled by Bournemouth a couple of times recently? Villa also won't be easy.

Does Frank Lampard go? Has he been found out at this level and his ''club legend status'' protection finally wearing thin?

No, he came in under a transfer ban so couldn't add in any new players with the money they got for the Hazard sale. He has had to work with youngsters, who by nature, are going to be bit inconsistent and maybe not as good as seasoned pros.

If they're still not improving this time next year then that question can be asked again. For a manager in his first season in the top division, he is doing totally fine and they are well in the mix for a Champions League spot.

They could have bought in January - the value may not have been there but they could and should have brought in at least one player.

I agree that Lampard is currently safe until Xmas but 4th to 11th is so tight that if they don't pick up many points in the run they have coming up, you can easily see them only getting 3 to 5 points out of that, then they may well find that they are not only out of Champions League contention but Europe as a whole - no Europe will make recruitment harder, though the guy they've signed from Ajax is a great piece of business, and questions may get asked.

The Chelsea fans main criticism of Lampard seems to that during games he’s far too predictable and isn’t using the resources he does have very well.

Granted the kids were unlikely to be able to keep up their early season form, but he’s also got a fair collection of experienced players who he seems to have struggled to get the best from. Sarri received similar criticism for his formularic substitutions and a lack of imagination and flexibility with his tactics.

I seem to recall similar talk around Lampard at Derby though.

But he did such an amazing job at Derby by ......checks notes...... getting them to finish in a lower league position than the previous season

There was a big prearranged meet up at the Coach and Badge in Putney. Place was crawling with filth apparently.

Ross Barkley needs to go, abysmal footballer and will be correctly displaced from the squad once RLC and Kante are back
Abraham not being able to replicate his early season form, two excellent crosses by Pedro and Willian but he was sitting on the back foot

Don’t get the hate towards an English club in Europe, I mean sure it was funny to wind up kes. But he’s gone now (maybe) I will support any English team in a European competition

I have zero loyalty to English clubs in Europe unless I actually like the club

Seems weird to hate someone on a Saturday and cheer them on a Tuesday.
