Winston Biscuit How is he even still on the merry-go-round?!

Pulis
Allardyce
Pardew
Moyes

Who else?

You mean four very successful managers with lots of success?

Good point. But do they have any success?

Depends what is considered success. If success is having a record of streadying the ship, saving clubs from relegation and providing a bit of stability then they are successful.

For me success = trophies or consistency at the top.

Pulis - took Stoke up to the Prem
Kept a doomed Palace side up
Kept a poor West Brom side up
Lost an FA Cup Final
Took Boro to the playoffs

Allardyce - couple of promotions IIRC
Progressed struggling sides (Everton, Palace, West Ham)
Little stint as England manager

Pardew - obviously did well with us
Couple of other half decent jobs, at Palace and Newcastle but he’s certainly the weakest of the four

Moyes - transformed Everton into a decent team, hence getting the United gig
Failed at United and Sunderland
Kept West Ham up twice and started this season well

Maybe not very successful but it’s rather off the mark when people go “why do teams employ Merry go round managers like Pulis etc” when they’re all fairly good managers

I’d argue success is progressing a team

Using the example of us:

Was Clement successful - no, although he did keep us up, he effectively left us where he took over
Same thing with Gomes

Was Bowen successful - although I didn’t particularly like him, he was because he took us from in and around the relegation zone to mid table

Can't believe it took them so long. Lol if they do go down the Rooney route, he can barely write his own name.

Every time I've heard him speak he's come across as thick as shit. Apologies if you know him personally and that's not the case, but I imagine he may find it difficult to articulate his ideas to his players.

Agree he's got a great football brain, but I don't think he's got the communication skills to go with it. We'll probably find out soon anyway.

I think they’ve been quite successful but how successful is another question, because whilst they’ve had success at lower pedigree clubs, none have really managed to be successful at bigger clubs which requires a certain level of success from managers to be successful

So basically, only the managers of the Big 6 can ever be successful?

Success is relative to each individual club.

I'd hate to have Pulis here but I reckon he'd make us hard to beat.

Not the top 6 but others such as Ranieri for Leicester obv, the obvious names, maybe poch for getting spurs into the CL final counts as a success for their team. But that is relevant to their team.

You don't hear lists of the most successful managers in world football containing Shankley, paisley, Ferguson, wenger and Pulis
