All the permutations (for the European groups) are here on the BBC website:

Iceland could make it. And if so we should pertition them to take Brynaldo, so the world can see just how awesome our Bryn is!

Handsome Man I watched the Champions League and for two year's solid they told us that Beckham, Joe Cole, Lampard and Beckham was the best midfield in the world

That might actually have been a decent midfield

Handsome Man
tmesis
just some bloke This World Cup is going to be absolutely brilliant. Nobody expects England to win so hopefully we'll see less of that related nonsense and just enjoy watching how far they can go, whilst enjoying all the other teams in the tournament.

who the hell have you known who actually thought England were going to win a tournament in the last 20 years?

The media* haven't been saying it for ages. Fans never think England are going to win any more either, so why do so many still talk as if people in England routinely believe we are the best in the world?

About the closest you get is Sky News going into a pub full of England fans and shouting "who's going to win?" and getting them to shout "England!!!!" back.

* I'll exclude Ian Wright, who'd probably tip England to win the superbowl if asked.

I watched the Champions League and for two year's solid they told us that Beckham, Joe Cole, Lampard and Beckham was the best midfield in the world and that everybody rated John Terry as a defender, so we were definitely among the favourites. We were just lied to as when it came to the 2006 World Cup, we never had a chance and only Ashley Cole looked a half-decent player.

FWIW I totally agree with JSB that the WC will be brilliant - it'll all be on in the evening and the stadiums will look massive, the crowds exotic and the pitches bright green

and no doubt we'll start our first group game against New Zealand with James Milner playing as a 3rd full-back

James Milner is a decent player. Typical buying into the bullshit that will rise to unbearable levels when the tournament starts.

Salivating over Brazils exotic talented footballers who bring magic to the sport, even though their goal threats will involve Neymar being thwarted on his 'bewildering' runs so they'll resort to humping it into the box and towards Hulk who will be pushing and bullying everyone until the ball finally ends up in the net. Meanwhile David Luiz will be kicking, biting and scratching opponents until he wins the ball back for the 'gifted samba stars'.

2nd round of the tournament and Milner miscues a half-volley 6 yards wide and it'll be "Oh, that was a good chance Andy, you can see the difference in quality between England and the top nations". In the other 2nd round games Neymar/Messi/Schweinsteiger/Van Persie/Xavi all do the same thing and it's "Oh, decent effort Andy, such a difficult technique to get that one right" - Twitter feed to the English commentators = get behind your own team you bunch of pussies.

I like Milner really but there's only so much space for slow midfielders and Gerrard, Lampard and Carrick are all ahead of him; when he gets selected you know it's because he's there to cover the full back rather than hammer forward.

Milner in that one season at centre midfield for Villa (09-10) >>> Milner the utility player >>> Milner the winger

Yeah, true. Lack of pace is his biggest problem I agree.

just some bloke
Royalclapper Portugal keeper Rui Patricio had an absolute 'mare with this one against Israel last night. Russia look set to win Group F with Portugal in the play offs.

http://youtu.be/RqT8x74S9_Q

and people give Rob Green and Joe Hart a hard time

I am pretty sure Rui Patricio is getting a pretty hard time for that, and deservedly so. Rob Green was given a hard time (mostly) for his mistake in 2010 against the USA ...

... and deservedly so.
