Son-in-law went to Man Utd's game on Saturday.
His comments were:-
Man Utd were dreadful
McTominay is a nasty, niggly not very good player
Rashford and Martial looked far from being international footballers
Maguire is painfully slow
Bournemouth were the better team.

He was a neutral spectator( and is a Leeds fan unfortunately).

They were shit...

front players got no service tbf

Majority of the team played 3x90 in 6 days

McTominay is doing fine but in reality, should only be a squad player at United

6ft Kerplunk Lol at a Leeds fan being neutral about Man Utd.

The neutrality was in respect of this game as he doesn't like Bournemouth either so his comments would have been fair and even,
Neither do I but for this fixture I would probably have just about wanted Bournemouth to win as my dislike for Man Utd is stronger.

Hating both teams doesn't make you neutral, it makes you biased against both teams.

This. It would be like me going to watch a game between Swindon and any Neil Warnock managed side. A traditional rival and a team I just don't like.

But both teams can't lose so neutral is a good enough description as being neutral means that you don't care about the result.
Pedant.

If I was given a free ticket and had nothing better to do, possibly.

Why did your SiL go to the Bournemouth v Man Utd game?

He is a season ticket-holder but with no allegiance to Bournemouth.
I have asked him how he can go and want Bournemouth so often to lose.
His answer is that he gets to see Premier League football and Leeds is too far away (he did see Reading win at Leeds 1-0 with my daughter a couple of seasons ago, ha, ha).
By way of explanation (if there is one) he is Irish( explanation enough??) but has lived in Bournemouth for 25 years.

Not caring about the result doesn't mean you'll judge the players or performance objectively if you hate both teams.

I can watch a game where I dislike both teams, as in the case of Bournemouth v Man Utd and still make reasonable judgement of players.
Still, carry on arguing as I know you enjoy it.

And pay for a season ticket at a club that he doesn't like, who are in the premiership? That isn't "just going to football".

What does the fact he's Irish have anything to do with it?

Oh dear-join the humourless and serious team of Ian and Snowflake Royal.
Incidentally I once lived in Southampton when they were at the top level and Reading were in Div 3.
Fortunately many of the games were on alternate Saturdays so I saw a lot of the Saints games as it was top level football and usually I wanted the opposition to win unless of course it were Man Utd.

Football doesn't have to be tribal to enjoy a game you know.

Aren't you the singleton who travels the world watching sport.
If you are that person I would expect a better understanding.
