Speed>>>>>>>>Muppets like Gazza. IMHO of course.

Jesus christ, get a grip.

Gazza has hurt himself more than he's hurt anyone else and these comments are needless on a thread like this.

I think the Swansea fans singing/clapping is a bit weird, but its not meant to be disrespectful in any way. It should all be about intent.

'Scuce me?

I wasn't having a go at Gazza. Just saying how Speed's proffesionalism has made him one of the greatest British footballers of the modern era.

Muppet being a term of endearment, of course.

This interview with Robbie Savage really says it all. Unbelievable, I think he's still in shock. By the end of the interview he's full of tears and can't answer the questions.

oof.

RIP Gary.

"one of the greatest British footballers of the modern era"

Had you posted this before his death, most people would be laughing at you for saying this

677 league appearances, most of which in the top flight with over 100 goals...yeah, laughable.

RIP Gary Speed, one of the greatest British footballers of the modern era.

No way is he one of the best British footballers if the modern era, just cos hread played a lot doesn't mean you're one of the best otherwise we could say Phil Neville is one of the best players to have played for England.

And for what its worth no issue at all with Swans fans clapping / singing. Its up to an individual to decide how they pay their respects.

The way some people have carried on, you'd have thought a proper football legend like Tony Rougier had died

On August 25 2007 Speed scorred against Reading to become the only player to have scored in every Premier League season to date. This record was later matched and extended by fellow Welshman Ryan Giggs

plus it was only a couple of hours beforehand that it was announced. there's no real way to mandate for that and i'm sure the people in the stadium felt pretty shocked and confused anyway.
