3 defeats in 4 for City. Desperate times.

I think City were quite cunning in where they sold the tickets in the ground. Over 11,000 empty seats and on tv it didn't look that empty apart from some seats at the front of tier 1. The 'Were not really here' third tier where the camera is must have been empty again.

It's on BBC1 so the attendance will always be low.

What was the attendance for United v Palace? Or even the result?

This seems an appropriate place to say I quite liked the dramatic effect of the lights going off before the game last night so they could manufacture a traditional start to home games. Unfortunately it doesn't really work if the crowd don't sing along

Isn't that where they ususally leave seats free when they don't sell out though? So they were probably not trying to be cunning its just their policy to sell that section last which makes the the "we're not really here" sign even more lolworthy.

Although I'm sure City are more concerned about being in a cup Semi-final and top of the league than not selling out tbh

Hush now. What happens in the seats is vastly more important than what happens on the pitch. It's attendances and selling out your end that win you the Champion's League or the Premier League or the FA Cup or the Carling Cup.

Could be right. City have crashed out of the CL and FA Cup - and probably favs to go out against Liverpool in the Rumbelows cup now.......

So that would be about 20,000 empty seats?

Are you f***ing sure?

Knew Man City's number 1 fan would be along.

tbh- yes it's about 20,000 empty seats but it's still about 16k more than city got last night and it wasn't the SEMI FINAL.

And it's still 4k more than the capacity at Eastlands.

52,000 against PaLOLace and 36,000 against Liverpool in a semi final. I'm pretty certain which is more embarrassing.

Maybe the real fans in Manchester need a few more trophies before they buy a ticket.

United in having better attendances than City shocker.

When have City every said they were a bigger club with more fans than United :?:

All City claim is that they have a higher proportion of mancs and a lower proportion of mongs from the home counties as fans.

Bearing in mind the pop of Manc is only 500,000, after a number of high profile games in succession on TV I can understand why the attendance was a bit low. However, that is not to dispute that regardless of mitigating factors, it IS a poor attendance for a cup semi versus Liverpool.

What about the fact that the support given to their team in a cup semi final, against Liverpool, was on a par with the Madejski Stadium on a miserable saturday against Coventry

Your not really understanding me. He's on the windup so I'm on the windup as well. I couldn't give two oxf*rd about either club.

Dunno. Over confidence (beat them 3-0 a week ago)? Or because the 1st leg of a 2 leg match is often a bit of an anti climax.

Liverpool also did a very good job of silencing what noise there was by dominating possession in the 1st half.

Liverpool dominated possession in the first half of the 3-0 as well, but there was a better atmosphere there.

You reckon that could have anything to do with City scoring 2 goals before half time rather than being 1-0 down :?:
