LoyalRoyalFan Good result.

Why do people slag off Glen Johnson? Another great performance from him as usual.

Thought he was MOM for England. Milner solid, Parker tackling well, Gerrard still out of position byt played well, Cole proving he's best left back in the world.

On the downside Welbeck was good but not dangerous in the box, which is where he needs to be. Terry confused at right side of defence, Ox-Chamb tried to do too much on the ball, Hart a touch shaky, Theo brought on too late. Pretty positive negatives if you know what I mean...

1-1. Decent result and on to the next two!

Pleased with that. We did look completely shattered for the final 20 minutes though

Still pretty uninspiring viewing but at least Hodgson's England look like they might have some discipline and the ability to grind out a result.

I guess that's progress.

Decent result, but we'll have to improve our ball retention. Disappointed with Gerrard for Nasri's goal. Gave his man too much time to get his shot in. Would have won if it wasn't for that.

Made me laugh on TalkSport/5Live phone in all the Liverpool fans phoning in slating Hodgson, saying this is exactly why he was sacked by Liverpool.....

Fact is, we would have all taken a draw, France were unbeaten in 20-odd games, we were missing some key players, France never really threatened (no more than we did).

What were they expecting to see?! :?

The problem with a Ukraine win is that it means that Sweden could have nothing to play for in their last game against France.

Recorded the game and just watched the goals again. If you're being harsh and apportioning blame for the goal, it has to go Scott Parker's way.

If you watch the build up to the goal, Gerrard's is tracking Ribery, and as the ball moves towards the centre, Cabaye. Nasri is Parker's man and Parker dives in front of Nasri's initial shot on goal, which cannoned off Lescott.

Unfortunately after that attempted block, Parker doesn't pick up Nasri again, who drifts across the edge of the penalty area. Gerrard's has taken up a defensive position. Parker has aimlessly trotted into the same space as Gerrard's and then gets wrong-footed by the pass into Ribery, leaving Gerrard's the only man attempting to rush out to block the ball.

It doesn't need all that analysis, we conceded because as a whole we were sitting too deep, but the goal was not Gerrard's fault.
