6ft Kerplunk As the refs and assistants are all have microphones why don't they just record the feed for the full match? That way they can just play back the recording if these type of incidents occur. Plus if they think their voice may well get recorded the players may think twice before dishing out all kinds of abuse to ref and getting a bit precious if anything is said back. Actually wasn't this done as a experiment in the late 80s/early 90s with David Ellery?

I think so and iirc it was an Arsenal game as you could hear Tony Adams was squeaking obscenities like a pcunt.

If we're talking about the bit that's gifed on here earlier. It's not a foul IMO. It could have been a foul if Torres hadn't dived.

Contact =/= foul. Contact impeding the player is a foul. If Torres stays on his feet and loses the ball, it's a foul. If Torres stays on his feet and gets through it's advantage played. Torres fell over deliberately unnecessarily, so it's a yellow for diving.

Which ever way you look at it, Torres actions were unsportsmanlike and so deserve to be punished.

For those arguing about the knee, I think Evans' knee might have just clipped Torres' knee gently.

But Hoop is right about one thing. The refs are to blame for simulation. They don't blow unless you fall over even when you have been fouled and they've spent years letting players simulate more and more with no punishment, often falling for it completely.

What Clattenburg apparently said:

@benbronx: John Obi Mikel accuses referee Mark Clattenburg of calling him a "Monkey" and the ref allegedly also called Juan Mata a "Spanish twat" #CFC

Not sure where he got this from and he is a Chelsea fan, but surely he wouldn't have said that?!

The word monkey fits into so many harmless phrases in common use that we need the full context really.

southbank1871 Not sure where he got this from

Page 12 of our very own John Terry's a Racist thread? But yeah it's pretty unlikely Clattenburg would wait until this week to start with the racist language if he'd always been that way inclined.

That could be a Terry like defence; "I was calling him a cheeky monkey!"

Doesn't sound like the Chelsea players covered themselves in glory if you believe the press suggestions that the broke into the officials dressing room (mind you managers probably do that each week) and one threated to "break clattenburg's leg"
