Doesn't surprise me - there's something poisonous about that whole club, from top to bottom.

Their supporters are the most divided, most fractious of just about any club, IMHO - we have our RTG/STG stuff on here, but some of their message boards are just utterly poisonous. People deeply entrenched in their views who aren't just discussing or disagreeing with each other, but real genuine hatred and hatred, and really personal stuff, naming each other, trying to get them sacked from their jobs - really nasty stuff.

I just love the fact that they hadn't even had the foresight to make the training pitch the same size as ER.......

Well I suppose he's got plenty of time to devote to his football now he's left the Tardis behind.

Not sure, but that's a 6ft 6 striker for McDermott's lads to hoof to.

Is that the lad who scored the last minute header in the cup agianst, I think, Everton?

If so it's nice to see McDermott carrying on his recent trend of buying players off the back of an FA Cup game.

He is indeed. Ex-Manchester Uni lad. Decent guy, bit of a lump. Think Darius Henderson but with less footballing ability.

He scored another big goal in the FA cup last year - knocking Liverpool out?

I mean, that's not a surprise any more but still.

Oldham view:

Well first thing I want to say is good luck to the lad and all the best.
Matt turned down a two year deal at Oldham and to be honest I can’t blame him at the end of the day it’s a job so he’s on more money playing in a better league for a bigger company.
If I am being brutally honest though if you take out the cup run and two other games towards the end of last season matt was a bit of a disappointment overall.
He will always give 110 % and physically he will win everything in the air providing its within his radius of a stride or two but as for anything else he’s a bit disappointing.
He’s a target man for a plan B or C option when the chips are down to get that knock down in the box for a poacher or for him to cause chaos at a set piece.
Unless it hits his head or if he’s practically stood on the goal line he will not score with a clean strike in 99/100 with either foot so finishing is not his strong point.
As for speed forget it, the erosion of the uk coastline would beat him in a 100metre sprint, that said it is the most unusual running style you have ever seen for a footballer and worthy of a David Attenborough style commentary.
All in all I hope your dug out has enough head room next year!

I would love it if he nets you 20 goals next year and proves me wrong because he is a sound guy and a rare intelligent footballer that speaks a good game!

He'll probably score a few from the subs bench next season.
