No Fixed Abode We're always going to be an average international team until we produce a Mata, a Silva, a Xavi, a Iniesta, a Ronaldo, a Messi, a Bale.

We have good players, but don't have any players who have that extra bit of technical skill and flare.
agree with Kes

Unfortunately, there are only 11 first team starting places in a Premiership team...and they are filled up with the likes of imported players.

Our up and comings must forage for bench and championship spaces.....fair does to Chelsea for not subscribing to this tho'........

Using the chess analogy, the very best teams have a picture in their minds that is constantly evolving of where the ball, and they, should be in 3 or 4 passes time.

You never get the impression England are ever thinking more than 1 or 2 moves ahead.

to someone unsure which one he is, that hardly narrows it down.

Crikey. I put a fiver on England for the larks, thinking that 11/2 was ok for a friendly game. After the first 45 it's clear that doesn't fully reflect the chasm between the two sides.

Things are quite bad, and they are going to get much worse before they get better.

Notice how the Brazil defence are only playing the ball between themselves high up the pitch and when it's safe to do so? There are no risky passes around their own box when they're under pressure and if they are under pressure they play it long but they are always looking to get it into the opposition's half in order to play their best football.

Much better than the Adkins way of dangerously knocking it around your own 18 yard box for half an hour.

Nice try.

Anyway, we immediately look much better with Ox offering a bit of movement in the middle that has been woefully lacking so far.
