creative_username_1 Someone post up a 'good' tattoo then!

Maori tattoo on a Maori, that'd do.

Maori tattoo on non-Maori :|

Mate of mine (used to be at Reading uni, some of you lot might know him) is a lecturer in art history, specialising in tattoo history.

Lolz

There was a group of girls in our hotel, about 10 of them all with matching tats on their ribs. Thought they said Party Girls at first glance until I got a closer leer one day at the pool. Pissy Gals. They all got matching tats saying Pissy Gals.

Tramp stamp might be a more appropriate name for them.

To me they are just like graffiti, the person who did it thinks it's really cool, everyone else thinks it's an eyesore.

Tramp stamps are specifically the ones on your lower back.

Also, everyone else thinks you're an eyesore.

I'm not sure it's specific to lower classes, you need a particular kind of stupidity to get one. ALthough thinking about it I've never seen a toff with a tat.

Wizard
Sebastian I, quite literally, do not knowingly have a single friend with a tattoo. Why would I bother?

I don't either. I like it this way.

Also, what is the point of having a tattoo where you can't see it? (eg on your back) Surely that's admitting it's a mistake and you won't like it in the future

aha, it's OK to be anti tattoo on here. I got massively outvoted when I denounced them on AE a couple of years ago.

Totally agred with Seb on tattoos on women, fcking horrendous. There are absolutely NO circumstances where adding a tattoo makes a woman more attractive.

It was probably during one of my absent periods, because I would have stood firm alongside you if I'd seen it.

I must have also missed this debate.

AFAIC people can have whatever tattoos they want. They just have to be prepared to be judged for it by everyone who sees them, because the one certain thing about tattoos is that the message they send out about the wearer isn't anything like what the wearer intended.
