Hearing the classified results.

Mass brawls where all the players are involved and you know that there'll be at least two red cards.

A winger (Kebe/Gilkes) simply knocking it past the full back and out-sprinting them.

Players celebrating a goal by jumping in with the fans.

Walking to an evening game as kid with the floodlights coming into view.

A shot hitting one post, then rolling across the line, before hitting the other post and bouncing harmlessly away.

The fact when walking through a crowded street, I pretend I've got a ball and am actually dribbling past people.

The simplicity of the game. "Right lads, here's a ball. Go and play with it. Just don't use your hands."

11.30 from paddington Players celebrating a goal by jumping in with the fans.

I used to like it when there were massive fences behind the goals and some players used to jump on and cling to them when celebrating a goal.

But then fences were never a good thing, so mixed feelings about that one really.

I really like arriving at a station, not knowing where you're supposed to be going and just following the nearest 20-something man until the one man becomes several and the several become a steady stream of football fans heading to the ground. I don't think this method of ground-finding has ever failed me.

Secondly I really like it when Reading score away from home.

When a defender slides in for a challenge, and the striker simply side-steps them.

Hilarious injuries - falling down the stairs, mayonnaise jars on feet, too many video games etc.

My First Saturday in Manchester, I was looking for a pub to watch Reading vs Forest. I saw a guy with a mid90s forest shirt and asked him. We set off for a nice pub in chinatown. About three or four other waifs and strays joined us.

Beautiful.

Proper football from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s before it sold out and went all crap

Goalkeeper giving up as the ball is heading in only for the ball to hit the inside of the post and the keeper to get some newfound hope just for a split second and start to throw themselves at the ball again but in no time give up again as the ball is now going over the line.

I can picture Peter Schmeichel doing this perfectly on a famous goal but can't remember which one

Anything higher than a 2 goal comeback.

A goal right at the start of the 2nd half, and the following onrush of people emerging from the concourse to see the celebrations

Visiting a new ground.
Going to a evening game in the middle of Autumn at Elm Park and the pitch was that ethereal green colour you only ever saw under floodlights.
A floodlight failure during an evening game.
Someone in the crowd getting smacked on the head by the ball.
A bad back pass to the keeper going to your striker who then scores.
A fantastic own goal (eg: Stuart Morgan v Arsenal, FA Cup in about 71 or 72)
A dog running on the pitch
Seeing the team coach on the Motorway back from an away game

Opposition fans applauding a player and not because he used to play for them. Just a fleeting moment of football fans not being total mongs.

See - Iniesta applauded at every away ground for scoring winning World Cup goal, Totti applauded by away fans for being all round nice guy, giving lots of his money away and releasing a charity joke book featuring only jokes about Totti.

The faint feeling of spray or rain on your face when the beer cups go flying following a goal celebration on a German terrace or in a great away concourse half time in England.

Also love guys jumping up on the fences in German football following a goal scored at their end:

Winning with the last kick of the game (like Leeds), when the stairs were packed and the away fans are furious.

That nervousness while waiting for a result to come in during a promotion season. (Sheffield United v Stoke when we were beating Derby 5-0, that Southampton game at Middlesbrough that they lost which gave us the title)

Knowing that a win will be enough, regardless of other results.

The last game of the season.

Winning away at a local(ish) team, like Southampton, any London team, Bristol teams

Yo-yo games where you have no idea whether you'll win or lose.

^^ Reminds me of Brentford vs Reading '02. Was watching it on the big screens at the Madejski Stadium, Cureton scored and the chap in front of me threw his 3/4 full pint up in the air in celebration, only for it to land squarely on me. And I didn't give a shite.

Ball hitting the post/bar then hitting the keeper on the back of the head and going in. Like Tim Howard at the weekend.
