Ten Fixed Matches

While the mainstream media focuses on Afro-Caribbean, South Asian and Singaporean match fixers as opposed to the largely white Caucasian expanse of managers, players, referees, owners, agents, bookmakers, administrators, commentators, media analysts and a former senior government individual who are systemically corrupting the English game, we provide you with ten matches involving English teams that were conspiratorially fixed and/or involved excessive insider trading.

We take these matches from all levels of the game in England across half a decade to demonstrate how widespread the corruption is.

•Manchester United v Real Madrid (Champions League 2012/13) - agent control/ insider betting
•Manchester United v Crystal Palace (Premier League 2013/14) - fixed match/ insider betting
•Portsmouth v Fulham (Premier League 2007/08) - fixed match/ Reading relegated
•Wigan v Tottenham (Premier League 2008/09) - insider betting
•Fulham v Wigan (Premier League 2007/08) - fixed match/ insider betting
•West Brom v Manchester United (Premier League 2012/13) - competing insider betting in 5-5 draw
•Finland U-21s v England U21s (European Championships 2013/14) - fixed match/ insider betting
•Norwich v West Ham (Premier League 2013/14) - fixed match/ insider betting
•Barnet v Macclesfield (League Two 2011/12) - fixed match/ insider betting
•Buxton v Stocksbridge Park Steels (Northern Premier League Premier Division 2013/14) - fixed match

WRT that game, with one team's season over and the other fighting for survival, is it any surprise that the betting patterns might appear to be suspicious when it could easily be people piling in on the obvious.

See also - Sweden Denmark in the Euros.

That WBA - United game - what happened there should perhaps happen more often IMO - season over for two clubs so they fill their boots and get players over threshold performance metrics.

Didn't Pompey have the FA the following week so put out a reserve team? agree with post above, just one of those games that come along where the better team are likely to lose due to unusual circumstance and people that follow it closely will lump on as bookies can be slow at this sort of thing.

That blog seems to be a bit of a wacky conspiracy theorist IMO.

http://footballisfixed.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... upted.html

In this blog he suggests that all 4 Sky games were decided by referee decisions and that the Mafia are controling both the beting and a British city council. Seems a bit of a nut job suggesting stuff without giving any indication of evidence.

He was suggesting we got promoted based on Russian Mafia control of the Championship when Anton first came in.

Thoughts are with JR at this difficult time.

Roberts reported in today's paper as declining to comment (Otis Roberts has been involved with one of the Sodje's to do with a charity)-that must be a first.

Is anyone else seeing some very odd things on MoTD that brings in mind match fixing?

Fairly straight forward shots the keeper doesn't dive for or makes a hash of. Remy's atrocious miss.

That's the real damage this business has caused. Any game you see on TV even as highlights is riddled with things that look dodgy. The BBC website is running an "advent calendar" of clips of highlights of the year, one of which last week was Tahiti scoring against Nigeria in the Confederations Cup. Header at the far post and the keeper never moved his arms as it passed him. I wonder what odds you could have got beforehand on them scoring a goal at any point in the tournament? Their eventual GD in three games was scored 1, conceded 24.
