A quick google tells me that the average wage in '81 was £7,000, and it's now £26,500.

I make it that a Reading season ticket is now 1.5% of the average salary. Back in '81 it was 0.5%.

A season ticket at £45 in 1981 would be £146 today.

Manchester City Division 1 Season Ticket £26.

Only Scunthorpe in Division 4 was cheaper.

Unsurprisingly Arsenal are the most expensive but Swansea and Shrewsbury  More or as expensive as the European Champions.

Doesn't look like there was a lot of point shelling out £30 for a Doncaster season ticket if you liked to stand.

When I first started going to Reading in 1988 it was already an inflation-busting £3 to stand. It went up to £4 within a year or two.

Big LOL at WHU charging more in Div 2 than Spurs in Div 1- sit, stand or for the season. Guess their fans have always been stuuupid.

Those were the days that they where rubbish. Had No money and 11,000 crowds. The Glory hunters where waiting in the wings.

I remember paying £45 for a season ticket, cos we won £90 on the pools and it paid for our season tickets that year
