Supposedly hit by a lorry

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/clarke-carlisle-hospitalised-with-life-threatening-injuries-after-being-hit-by-a-lorry-9941305.html

The club's "On behalf of Reading Football Club, sending thoughts to the family of Clarke Carlisle this evening" rather than wishing him a recovery etc etc is ominous.

Word on the street or the A64 in this case is that this was an apparent suicide attempt where he deliberately walked out in front of the fast moving vehicle.

Probably/hopefully just lazy journalism, as Carlisle has been open in the past about his battles with depression.

He's one of the relatively few that you can say are an intelligent and articulate credit to his profession. Hope he recovers fully.

If this is the case, it's no excuse to put other people's lives at risk. A lot of people have their demons but don't resort to this.

A crap footballer/pundit makes an incredibly selfish decision that seriously endangers other people’s lives and hobnob gets the candles out for a vigil. 6 people horrifically killed in an accident in Glasgow and we get two pages of shite dump truck puns.

A member of the footballing family (allbeit, one who is much smarter than the average) gets hospitalised

And you wish to make your own point, that (as sad tho' it is) has no relevance to the OP

I like CC's punditary
