He's more co-commentator than pundit but Gary Birtles is the worst Sky have to offer.

'no....the player has <fcuked up that decision>....he should of* done......etc'

John Hartson - who's normally OKish - went completely off the rails yesterday on R5. 1st half just constantly slagged of Plymouth for their ultra defensive approach to the game. As if they had an obligation to come out trying to bang in a few against Liverpool - at Anfield.

Then when it finally dawned on him that Plymouth were going to get a reply because Liverpool were utterly dreadful he was effusive in his praise of their backs to wall defensive heroics.

Very odd. He sounded like a Liverpool fan.

And the Premier League pundit wars of 2017 have entered the Eamon Dunphy phase. “They’re hopeless,” he huffed. “The number of guys who don’t actually know the game and don’t engage their brain. What really baffles me is what the television companies are thinking – BT Sport have invested about £2bn in rights. They have the goalkeeper David James and Rio Ferdinand. They don’t respect their audience.”

He really only does co-commentary, but I like the old pervo David Pleat on R5 Live. Pretty much just gives a tactical summary of what he thinks is happening on the pitch. Just tells it as it is.

I'd like to kick Garry Birtles' head in.

+1 and Jimmy Armfield does the same thing brilliantly.

Big fan of Savage, Dixon and miss Pastor Gavin Peacock who always thought was excellent.

Garth Crooks should jump on a spike.

I don't know the guys name but there is a northern guy from Newcastle who commentates on an obscure channel outside of England who does la liga, he is my fave by far. He goes absolutely ballistic everytime something awesome happens and has the best, most random lines come out.

May have been said already but I quite like Jermaine Jenas - seems quite sensible in most of his analysis and not completely up himself

Totally gone off him now. 4-5 years ago yes I did have a man crush on him. But now he's just past his prime and he's on too much now.

Plus did you know his dad his Harry Redknapp?! Enough to put anyone off.

Still, I would never have put Jenas in the hotty category. I mean he isn't ugly by any means but his teeth are like Windsor Castle battlements. He could eat a pineapple through swingball racket.

Couldn't give a flying fruitcake how he eats a pineapple. In what circumstance would it matter how anyone eats a pineapple? ..How people look is the least interesting thing about them. What they say/write ,however...

JJ talks about football, as an ex-professional footballer who has played at the highest level- imho, quite engagely, comments on PL games. Given I don't give a shit what decisions were/should've been given, and not even pretending to be an expert, I listen, I learn.....you should try it.

Erm. You were the one who brought up looks in the first place. If it isn't important why mention it?

^this.

Met him at Didcot Station once. When I complemented him on his co-commentary he did a little bow. Bless his cottons.

Has anyone watched 'Gary Neville - The pundit' on SS1 yet? Even he had a pop at Sky for having so many ex Liverpool players as pundits.
