Pepe the Horseman United's equaliser looked way out. First time I've seen VAR for a "possible out of play" is that normal? Bit odd they didn't show any close up, hawk eye type views, which I assume means they didn't have a oxf*rd clue?

Typical United gaining once again

Leeds should have had a penalty too

More VAR nonsense

The Leeds one is odd.
I'm sure they've said that all incidents are looked at but that clearly can't be right as Poveda was clearly kicked, albeit accidentally - accident or not it should've been a pen. As the commentary team said - players have to go down to make sure referees 'see' the incident

Yet another utter shambles from VAR. Foul given outside the box - 43 replays later they decide it's inside the box. If you have to watch the replay over and over and over and over....... then it's not an obvious error. The game of football is a ruin now

Another shocker there, how is that clear and obvious?
But its only Brighton so who cares.

Incredible. Referee didn't even look at the big screen. You could see it was outside and the player jumped and dived.
I know the we were robbed last week but I'd rather have a bad decision than sit there wondering if I should celebrate. It will ruin the experience of going to games.

I’m with Pepe on this one

From the side it’s clear the challenge was closer to the bye line than the edge of the 18 yard area
From the bye line it’s clear that the challenge was inside the edge of the 18 yard line laterally

From that it’s a penalty and only needed two views of each (so four in total)
The issue is the number of views to make that decision which is back to the competence, or otherwise, of the VAR crew

My biggest learning from the United incident is that we don't have cameras along the touchlines. Sky said 'we have another angle', and I thought here we go, a touchline view, but it was just 20 degrees off from the other side.

Bet the asst ref has got a bollocking for turning his back on the ball and sprinting down the touchline. He must have turned before the ball was even kicked as it was obvious from the minute that it left his foot that the ball was heading out of very close to out.

In the 1st half the ball clearly hits a Spurs defender’s arm as he jumps for the ball with Salah in the penalty area, personally do not think it’s a penalty but given some of the iffy handball decisions given previously it probably should have been one. Therefore, perhaps VAR refs have been told to “rein in” some of the handball decisions (or more likely it was missed by everyone save broadcast TV).

Son’s goal was at least as offside as Henderson’s “winner” against Everton, yet VAR somehow gave it an immediate thumbs up. Although maybe I’m imagining things as the pundits didn’t seem bothered at all

There's really got to be a better way of communicating how a decision has been made. There was the Salah goal disallowed last week for offside but they'd drawn the line at the defender's foot, and not his armpit as we've been told is in play.
Son looked bang in line to me - although that might be because, at least to my eye, there was only one line on the screen.

I've said it before but I really think there should be a permanent record of VAR decisions made available after games, with the actual stills the officials see (with the thinner lines), and a commentary on the decision made.

Think they said the decision could be made quickly because it was both players feet where the lines were drawn not an eyebrow or armpit.

Sorry, have I understood that correctly ?
This seems to suggest they've changed the way that the decisions are reached mid-season. I thought they'd ruled that out.

No, as in their feet just happened to be the two bits of body that were the furthest forward (or back from defenders point of view) so were used to decide the offside. As the feet were on the ground it meant it was a lot quicker to draw the lines.

A new reason to be against VAR as Craig Paulson doesn’t give a blatant penalty against Aurier for a shove right in front of him, presumably because he knows he’ll get a shout from Stockley Park. It was so close to half time I was a bit disappointed everyone was still on the pitch when he finally gave it.
