Silver Fox
Winston Biscuit (unashamedly nicked off a football podcast) 'how on earth have we ended up with Real Madrid being the good guys out of the 4 teams in the European Cup semi finals?!'

Said the exact same thing last night, although I'm very much OUT on the Champions League for this season

I am usually OUT! for champions league football as its all overblown hype over what it ends up delivering, but the best games I have seen this season in any comp are PSG Vs Barcelona and Juve Vs Porto so I feel drawn back into it after those. PSG Vs Bayern the other night was brilliant too

The two legs of the PSG Vs Bayern quarters were spellbinding. Even the commentary duo of Paul Dempsey* and Martin Keown couldn't ruin the delights that we saw on the pitch.

*don't mind Dempsey, tbf

Looks set for an all English final. City might struggle against PSG but Chelsea have a huge chance against Real Madrid.

I remember John Dempsey. Chelsea early 70's. Combover.

URZZZZ City (again) getting the rub of the green, feel for Dortmund who have been shafted by two poor refereeing decisions

Now hope Madrid win it but can see the winner coming from the PSG City semi

Glad we have two teams remaining but hope City get beat at some point as I don't want them doing the quadruple

Be funny if Spurs beat them in the LC final tbf even if no one is expecting it

Rumoured to be Jose’s last game if they lose it - and even if they win it, he’s gone at the end of the season so he’ll definitely want to go out with a bang

Well. Their semi final is on the Tuesday after the final, on the Sunday. Wonder if City will rest some players for the final.

Perhaps so but given many of their “second” team lost to 10 men Leeds, perhaps Pep will reconsider

Incredible stat and really just

The only player in Man City's squad to have a champions league medal is 3rd choice goalkeeper on Loan from Derby, Scott Carson

Pep apparently sees him like current gk coach Richard Wright, as an incredibly important behind the scenes and basically like another captain in the dressing room

Been some really high quality football recently (PSG vs Bayern, both legs) and Chelsea Madrid last night. Honestly cannot wait for the game tonight :D

Maybe there should be some sort of Super League, because I could watch this stuff week in, week out.

Agreed - although only caught the second half of the Madrid game and thought it was fairly disappointing

Wasn't Richard Wright previously a non-playing understudy at City too, for three or four years?

Yes. Basically was doing his badges there and is now first team GK coach. He didn't play a single game since Ipswich v reading for 4 years at Man City but collected 350k a year. Not too shabby.

Apparently Carson and Wright are two of the most important figures behind the scenes.

In one of the stranger stories of the week. Marcelo is set to miss the Chelsea return leg as he has to man a polling station in the Madrid local elections.

Just reading about that on BBC, although I think he will be excused, it looks like there is precedent for excusing footballers -

His predicament, while certainly one of the more unusual reasons to potentially miss out on a Champions League semi-final, is not unprecedented in Spanish football.

Levante goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez was named on a reserve list to attend a polling station in his hometown of Mondragon in 2019, when on the same day he was due to play a match against Athletic Bilbao.

He, however, was excused from polling duties and cleared to play.

Athletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams was also excused from working at a polling station in 2015 as voting clashed with a match against Levante.

That’s that the money boys are going to win the champions league embarrassingly one-sided second-half PSG could not even lend a hand on them. Let’s face it city Are going to dominate English football And European football For many years to come.
