The Club Badge Thread

by Winston Biscuit » 06 Mar 2021 17:38

Only just realised today what an absolute abomination Stoke's badge is. Its just their 2 colours with some basic info written on. WTF is that about?!

There are some terrible badges out there but I am struggling to find anything as bad as that

Obviously goes without saying that Coventry's badge is incredible and should always win any badge competition. But what other badges out there do you really like and really not like?

Seem to remember Reading’s last badge was worse

I'm forever amazed by the type of shit football fans like.

It has to be really tacky for them or they won't buy.

I like the Stoke badge. It's a Wikipedia page in badge form. You know 4 facts about the club from it, not bad going.

FC Santa Claus who play in the lower divisions in Finland. They are named as such due to the city of Rovaniemi being the place Santa is said to be from in many old stories

Home kit red & white, away kit green & white. Lovely stuff.

Morton's is a real cracker. All you need to know about the club, including the town's industrial heritage.

On this subject, there's a ridiculous situation where the Court of the Lord Lyon, which enforces ancient Scottish rules of heraldry, is stopping clubs from using certain shapes or emblems on their badges.

Airdrieonians have already been forced to ditch their historic badge after a complaint was made to the Court of the Lord Lyon, which enforces the rules, by a fan of a rival club.

What sort of sad £&@£&@** complains about another club’s badge?

This takes me back to my school days collecting stickers (got, got, got, got, need)

And the excitement of which shiney sticker you’d get in the pack (always liked Coventry’s for some reason)

Growing up in the 1970s I have a love for the badges from this era, sim still in use like Wolves dog head, and Derby’s ram, the Forest badge, as well as Sheffield Wednesday’s now defunct owl.

Do the six lines under the football mean anything?
