Premier League Hall of Very Good / Championship Hall of Fame

by fartdad » 26 May 2021 10:24

In other sports a term used to coin players who are consistently above average but not quite at the level of hall of famers is generally termed as hall of very good. taking in account the arbitrary starting date of premier league as a defining start time. i guess also could be included is players who excelled in the championship but never quite broke in the premier league.

so with that in consideration my premier league hall of very good would probably include Phil Neville and Emile Heskey. Phil neville just a good enough player to make the england team because there was really no one else available. heskey made a career or not being a goal scoring striker.

for Championship Hall of Fame maybe Marlon King :? or Kevin Phillips :!:

Won the PL, FA Cup and Champions League with United, and the inaugural Premier League golden boot, but no-one really talks of Teddy Sheringham as an all-time great. Only 11 goals for England masks his contribution to the side, and his partnership with Shearer, too.

If he's not considered for the PL Hall of Fame, then the Hall of Very Good should probably have a picture of Sheringham on the doors.

Might just be me, but there is something about Sheringham I don't like, think he comes across as a really unpleasant individual
