Because of the Saudis or the Geordies?

Always kind of liked Newcastle after that year they nearly won it. I’d rather they win the league than any of the other big money clubs. Obviously very mixed feelings that the owners are dark age murderous bastards.

It's Newcastle, they will somehow manage to screw things up even when rich.

I’m not so sure this time round. I honestly think this might the beginning of something momentous. A changing of the guard.

Sometimes I wonder why I even follow this sport. UAE and Qatar was bad enough, can’t wait for Iran to attempt to buy West Ham.

But yet we can't spend a penny and have a 9 point deduction. Where's the consistency and fairness in that?

Getting a bit sick of all the media talk about Newcastle supporters deserving success. They deserve success no more than any other supporter in the country. Just because they had a decent team in the mid 90's it doesn't mean they deserve to be at the top table now or their supporters are hard done to, they are where they should be. They haven't won a major trophy for about 50 years have they? Being well supported does not make you a big club imo, winning things does as does competing consistently at the top level.

Fcuk them.

Because it's high profile, the Saudi involvement will get attention. The reality is that our country is awash with investment and money from sinister sources and sportswashing is widespread. I can't really begrudge Newcastle specially, and if I really cared passionately enough about these issues would get into campaigning or politics instead of moaning on a football forum.

I'd like to see Newcastle crash the big boys in the next 10 years or so. A friendly city where they're passionate about their football team. Agree with QSF's comment about no fans "deserving" success, but happier for Newcastle fans to have some excitement than Chelsea, for example.

The Premier League can finally stop pretending they give any sort of shit who buys their football clubs now.

Also, what is the supposed rule on spending against revenue and how do you think Newcastle will side step it?

I am awaiting some kind of £1 Billion sponsorship of their stadium by Saudi Airlines

I thought that was pretty much scrapped now - if you have wealthy owners in the PL, crack on is the message.

How long will it be before the majority of teams in the PL are state owned?

Not much to stop this happening now.

I am quite a fan of each club representing a country and the results of matches could ramp up international tensions. Would really add to the drama of things.

'What a pulsating game that was between The North London Pyongyangs & Manchester Whoop&hollers, Geoff Shreeves is with Kim Jong-un to get his post match thoughts...'

Monday Night Football could have President Xi and Joe Biden at the digital screen talking through what happened at the weekend

Some inconsistencies in that story. What's it got to do with the Premier League? And there's no VAR in the Championship. I'm calling bullshit.
