UEFA Cup Final: Zenit St Petersburg v Rangers

by TBM » 14 May 2008 16:35

So who are you cheering on to win?

For me its Zenit, watched a few of their games and think they play some exciting football going forward and always seem to score goals, although their top scorer is suspended for this game so could go either way.

Considering how racist Zenit are, how can anyone want them to win? But then, it's unsurprising that TBM wants them to win as he's one himself.

Xenophobia is different from racism. At least Rangers have had a few Englishmen in their team in the past whereas Zenit have never signed a black man.

Manager Dick Advocaat has even admitted that the fans' attitude has affected his transfer policy.

"The problem is our fans," he says. "I would be happy to sign anyone but the fans don't like black players.

"I don't understand how they could pay so much attention to skin colour. For me, there's no difference between white, black or red.

"But the fans are the most important thing Zenit have. That's why, in future, I have to ask them outright how they'll react if we sign a dark-skinned player.

"If the fans don't agree with me, I won't do it. I won't buy a player who won't be accepted by the fans."

Still, I fecking hate the Hun (unters

Dig me in a week's time.

Er, a win for Ragners [sic] would do for me.

It occurs to me that if Zenit were to win, then the last four UEFA Cup winners would be a Sevilla sarnie on Russian bread, as it were.

Who, I wonder, is the moron who scheduled the Colaship playoff semi second leg for the same date and hour?

Anyway, looking forward to it, and LOL @ the Spacey-TBM dialogue.

It's not unusual for this to happen. When Liverpool won the UEFA Cup a few years back, I and a few Reading fans missed out on watching that because we were so busy watching the legendary Reading 2-1 win over Wigan to send us through to the play-off final.....

I wouldn't sign a blackman either, lazy, whiney and never do what they are contracted to. RE: Fae

Which is why they will win.

I really thought Zenit were superb against Bayern. The top scorer is very good. The lad who absolutely ran central midfield is good.

Sadly the thought of atomic spectroscopy then imagining myself ball deep in Lucinda then Margaret on the Apprentice precludes my watching the game.

12 min: "After their first Euro win was ruined by a riot, could Rangers be the first team to win a trophy and have it withheld due to their fans choice of song?" wonders Div. "So far today on TV we've had The Billy Boys, The Sash, Derry's Walls and the new dodgy 'the famine's over, why don't you go home' song, as sung to Irishman Noel Hunt on Saturday, and the entire Celtic support in previous weeks." As Alan Partridge once said about us Irish, not Noel Hunt in particular: "If they could afford to emigrate during the famine, surely they could afford to eat in a modestly priced Chinese restaurant?"

22 min: Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hack! Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hoof! Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... Zenit pressure ... hack!
