Stranded Non-League Saarbrucken make it to the semi finals of the German Cup beating Dusseldorf 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
They are joined by Bayern who bear Schalke 1-0 - remaining 2 Quarter Finals played tonight.

Nuts, that. Are the German lower leagues more closely squashed together in terms of ability, or was this really like a Morecambe or Barrow beating a mid-table PL side?

Sanguine The Turkish Superlig reads as nuts too. There are 18 teams in the league - 11 changed manager during the summer, and there have been a further 23 managerial changes in the season to date. Kayserispor are on their fourth boss. There are billions of red cards too - once week there were 8, and three matches saw both sides end with 10 men.

My Besiktas-supporting coffee shop owner keeps mentioning how tight the Superlig is this year. Trabzonspor will be more motivated than ever to win it this season after they were robbed of the title in 2010/11 after Fenerbahce were cleared of match-fixing when they were bang to rights. Recently finished this excellent book about Turkish football and how embedded it is in modern Turkish history. A real eye-opener and recommended.
