When you look at the list of their signings with costs over the last 4-5 years it's quite staggering. No other business would accept those kinds of failings

After Messi threw his toys out of the pan and declared he was off, and that Man City or PSG were his likely destination, it was alleged that his annual salary AFTER TAX is £54.2M (or £988K per week), and annually he also gets £9.1M for image rights and another £13M for various "loyalty" fees.......there was no chance any club would pay that for a 33 yr old (forget all the BS about "shirt sales would cover it") hence he stayed at Barca.

Obviously the MLS isn't a European League but couldn't find a dedicated thread for the MLS and didn't see the purpose of starting a newone

Noticed that Stam's new team (Cincinnati FC) are really struggling at the moment, scoring only 2 goals in the last 1100 minutes (2 goals in 12 games). Only seeing little snippets of fans' reactions but from what I can gather, he's coming out with the same tripe there that he did here in interviews

Just relieved he's not here any more, painful viewing!

Juve handed a 3-0 win and Napoli deducted a point.

Sassuolo in 2nd place in Serie A. heard a journalist earlier saying they are the team to watch in Italy right now as they have made a clear decision to just go all out attack in the games. 'Like Atalanta but with worse players and more entertainment' was a description given.

Their 4 matches so far have seen them win 4-1, 4-1, 4-3 and draw 1-1. The 4-3 win saw them 3-1 down with 25 minutes left

Also their 33 year old centre forward Francesco Caputo has spent almost all of his career in the 2nd division, but moved up to Serie A last year and did really well, started this season well and got called up to the national team, and scored. many Italian fans apparently saying he should be in the starting XI, and with the Euro's less than 8 months away could be quite the story (Rickie Lambert like!)

As an all too frequent reminder that despite there being pockets of racism in the UK, which don't actually do awfully compared to southern Europe.

Ansu Fati has pace to burn, so much so that Spanish newspaper ABC has depicted him as 'a black street seller fleeing police.'

https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... comparison

of a very young, black street seller that you suddenly see running along Paseo de Gracia] when someone shouting ‘water, water’ [to warn other street sellers] announced that the local police have arrived.

Only 4 losses between the 3 sides that came up to La Liga this season in their combined 16 games so far. Early days but that could make things interesting at the bottom for some of the more established clubs this season.

Valencia are an absolute shambles so I expect them to get dragged into a relegation fight. The owner sold off all their good players for fee's below the expected amount, let loans expire, contracts run out, kept telling the fans to be patient as they would be bringing in replacements, didn't bring in a single player. Now rumoured to be trying to sell the club. Manager threatened to quit. Good times had by all.

9th placed Barca Vs 3rd placed Real Madrid at 3:00pm tomomrrow

Was listening to some Spanish pundit earlier who said La Liga could be a cracker this season as both of the above teams are looking poorer than they have for years so the usual chasing pack could do something

Who was the little balding striker that suddenly arrived in the Italian squad about 20(?) years ago and became a cult hero?
Was it Scillaci (sp?)

Yeah, Schilaci in Italia 90. Had spent his career in the lower leagues, moved up to Serie A for the first for the 89/90 season, did well, got called up for the national team in the friendly before the world cup, got in the squad for the World cup, due to injury he got into the team for the first game, ended up being world cup golden boot winner. mentz
