Winston Biscuit Lazio 2-0 up within 11 minutes away to Atalanta. If they hold on then they are still just 1 point off the top with plenty of games left.

Real Madrid go top of La Liga on head to head. 7 games left and they have a pretty reasonable run in too.

Barca still have to play Atletico Madrid and Sevilla who are 3rd and 4th in the table

Eibar won last night which means they have created a gap between 4th from bottom and the relegation zone.

Espanyol look almost certain to be relegated. only 5 wins all season. I always think of them as being one of the big established 'significant' clubs of Spanish football.

In their history they have been relegated 4 times, each time coming immediately back up. Right now they have been in the top division for 26 consecutive seasons

Saw some of the Salzburg game before the Liverpool game earlier in the week - decent - think I liked was that Sky Sport Austria have a "Scout Cam" feed - it's a wide lense camera situated on the roof - so you can see the whole pitch at once to see the tactical shape of the game. Really quite interesting to watch.

2. Bundesliga finished today.

With Heidenheim losing heavily at champions Bielefeld, Hamburg were trailing 2-1 with 7 mins to go needed just to find an equaliser to snatch back the play-off spot against botton half Sandhausen.

They let in 3 in the last 6 mins to lose 5-1 at home and face a 3rd season outside the top flight. They expected of course to bounce back at the first attempt.

A year after he retired from football Arjen Robben comes out of retirement to sign for his boyhood club Groningen, who finished 9th in the Eredivisie.

Four Of Clubs Benfica beaten 3-4 at home by Santa someone I've never heard of. ....(Clara )

.

..ever the fan of the obscure , I really should have looked this up .... decided to - prompted by the Portuguese game trundling along in the background -and before I do my late night delve into Netflix
(might eventually stick something on the TV review over on AE but don't want to unsettle Spizzers  and my late night selections are generally somewhat one dimensional - undemanding Euro Tec stuff mostly )

- as usual rest of the FoCcers Familio holed up in the Kitchen with friends chatting about Bellringing :? ... So I've got free run of the tele ....

.... Anywhich Santa Clara are noteworthy as they are from the Azores.

... back on topic : Benfica have dropped plenty of points in June - included a defeat on Madeira (yes! against Jose's Maritimo ) but are still well clear in the top two. Sporting currently struggling to get past 10 man Morierense , are 9 points further back in 3rd. Now 0-0 in last minute of 6' of injury time and a VAR for an AWAY penalty (SL are visitors) but the reception's gone a bit Norman Collier on me.... so it's a tad difficult to follow - the Irish Commentator appropriately has f£ck all idea what's going on too
Not awarded and it ends goalless.

The Eagles have most likely blown their chances of a 38th domestic title though, as they are now 6pts behind Porto with only 4 games left.

Zaragoza doing a Zaragoza yet again in the Segunda Division having looked very good for automatic promotion at the Lockdown break without losing since December, they have lost 5 of their 7 games since resuming and have now been overtaken in the table

If they are not careful thus could be the 3rd time in 4 years that they have looked pretty much nailed on to go up only to blow it in spectacular fashion with a handful of games to go

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Russian 3rd tier club FC Znamya Truda's youth goalkeeper Ivan Zaborovsky as he was struck by lightning in training.

The 16-year-old is currently in a coma and on a life support machine.

.... in Serie A this evening 'Super' Lecce hang on to beat 2nd placed Lazio.. 8)

The Pugliese climb temporarily out of the drop zone too.

Leaders Juve would extend the gap to 10 with 7 games left should they win @ Milan tonight.

UPDATE: well all looked to be going swimmingly for Juve when Cristiano put them 2 up with 1/2 hr left - then Zlatan stepped up to put away a pen that started a fight back and saw Milan run out 4-2 winners.

...back in Portugal Benfica slumped again, held 1-1 @ Famalicao; whilst Oporto took advantage with a comfortable win @ Tondela. With only three games left they lead the Lisbon club by 8 points and are 8 goals better off.

2nd placed Huesca lost to bottom of the table Santander yesterday meaning a win for Zaragoza today against strugglers Oviedo would put them bac into an automatic promotion spot with 2 left to play

Following on from Bremen staying in the Bundesliga on away goals, Nürnburg avoid a second successive relegation via the same means.

Only tells part of the story though - following a 2-0 1st leg win over Ingolstadt they found themselves 3-0 down in the 2nd leg as the game entered injury time only to score the key away goal to equalise on aggregate and stay up.

Some would say that is a form of justice as Ingolstadt only finished 4th in the 3. Liga and were only in the play-off because Bayern Munich II won the division and cannot be promoted, so promotion spots shifted down a place.

And of course Zaragoza let in 4 goals at home and lose

Due to that result Cadiz are promoted

Atalanta up into 2nd place with another big win tonight.

They have now scored 93 league goals so far this season. 5 games left to be the first team in Serie A since 1951 to score 100 goals (3 teams did it all in the same season in 50/51 - mentz!)
