Went to Deal Town v Ringmer yesterday on my FA cup adventure. The hosts winning 4-1 setting up another trip to Deal in a fortnight. Epson or Selsey will be the visitors.

... small world - I took my lad down to watch Selsey vs Epsom (his choice - wanted to go to a game nr the seaside - right b@stard journey too on a BH w/e)
Home side won 1-0 - game of few chances - will miss the next round (and the next) - Royals at home (12/09) Donny then (26/09) Hornets.

... and more co-incidentally I think Deal were the first non-league team I ever saw, a very very long time ago - my Great Uncle ran a B&B down that way, took me along to see them vs Swanley - must've been late 60's. :?

Went down to Staines Town today with floyd_streete and Andy RFC for the 1-1 draw with Maidenhead.

One of the worst referee's i have seen in a while and i think Maiders will happily take the point.

LOL @ the Staines player upset by the Maidenhead pocket of fans. "f**king town of f**king travellers!"

... got the Anorak's obligatory B/H Double in -

AM Frimley Green v Hartley Wintney - away side are top won 2-0 v.comfortable
- weren't required to call upon erstwhile Town star Ray Spence - not even sure he was on the bench today.

PM Headington Amateurs v Clanfield 4-1 - ground is in Barton 'Village' strangely idyllic bit of P@xford NW off the ring-road near where the road into the Manor Ground was.

Nostalgia moment - one o' they Musical Ice Cream vans driving round and round the estate for ages before pulling into the Car Park. My Lad was chuffed to be given some dosh to run over and buy himself a 99.

Only odd thing was the local chavvy populace - definitely had a fair share of Knuckle-Dragging throwbacks in that part of Town - pleased to get home again.

Cheered up even more when we heard P@xford had been held 0-0 by bottom club Forest Green. :P

Any plans on how you'll get tickets for any big games if so?

Yes plan is to watch the winner of each round all the way to Wembley.
Got a few mates who support the bigger clubs who've said they can help out if it gets that far.

AndyRFC's blog Egham play at the Runnymeade Stadium

Hmm, there's a clue there....

Seriously, good luck with it though. I've signed up to follow your travels, that long stream of text in the followers list should read "bobbybottler".

Just back from Windsor & Eton 1-1 Bridgewater Town - poor poor game, with some rather strange decisions by Keith Scott. No home games now until October.

AthleticoSpizz Brilliant, Hanx

But where do you get all of this from?

I usually start with a list of 'local' NL games I might consider going to - taken from individual league web sites - with the onus on getting to a 'new' ground - so more and more nowadays I need to go slightly further afield - if that doesn't seem too @rse about face? :?

I only normally bothered doing it when Royals were away but have it down to a (sadly) fine art so its just as easy to get a quick list of ALL clubs I consider to be of local interest to me - with a few other HNA-interest 'notables' chucked in i.e. H&R for Tredder - though if these teams have had their individual games reported already - I try and avoid repetition.

Its then just a question of looking at about half a doz. sites that carry the fixtures/results and adding in any Anorak-style comments e.g. changes in position; results against the form book etc.

It was much easier to compile the scores when the info was all in one place but since the sad demise of Tony Kempster and his site - the info needs to be gleaned from its individual league web sites - doesn't take much longer once you know where to look.
His followers are finding just what an enormous task it was compiling all the stuff into one new site - I think they are still re-building it [nonleaguematters.com].

My first aim is to try to get to a game at any grounds within about two hours drive - currently excluding Sussex/Kent/United Counties - though I'll consider them if they are at home in the Cup/Vase to what I consider to be a 'local' side. Also only I go down to STEP06 - I'll leave the Park pitch/local Rec. hardcore groundhopping stuff 'til I'm really in my dotage.

By my latest reckoning I'm about 2/3rds of the way to my first 'goal'.

Good effort FOC...I take it that you are some kind of local "hopper" then...all praise to you.

You are not the only one to pay homage to (the late) Tony Kempster..........what a big miss on the Non League circuit he is.

For the likes of us, very interested, yet, very lazy (my recent trips have taken me as far as Scours Lane)...keep up the good work mate :!:
