TBM Ok so transfer deadline day is tomorrow.................thing is, half the premier league and a near on full championship fixture list is being played

So how are players involved in those games supposed to go and sign for somebody else?!

That is a good point. I imagine there will be quite a few sickness bugs going around where clubs pull the player from the games.

Personally i think that if by lunchtime tomorrow teams haven't signed someone, they wont be doing any business

What time does the window shut?

If its 5pm, then the games tomorrow night aren't affected; if its midnight, presumably a club will tell a player that someone is in for them and pull them out of the game.

Simples.

11pm

but take the deal of Arteta in August - wasn't it around 7pm that he told Everton he wanted to join Arsenal......tomorrow things like that aren't likely to happen - so i reckon by lunchtime tomorrow most teams will have wrapped up their dealings, or at least made an approach for a player

Bryan Swanson's already looking desperate with his skypad shouting "that's 20 million pounds worth of transfers already!", he's going to be crushed tomorrow

Not sure if that's true. Whilst that was the initial rumour, both Wenger and Moyes came out afterwards and said there had been talks since the 27th following Arteta saying he wanted to go.

Yet it was the drama over Arteta that provided the major talking point. Arsenal had enraged Everton with an opening offer of £5m, which was laughed out of Goodison Park and when they returned with £10m, it was still too low. Wenger had previously shown an interest in the Everton centre-half Phil Jagielka, for whom he was quoted £20m, and it was made clear that Arteta was rated in a similar bracket.

But the situation turned abruptly when Arteta asked to leave, having had his head turned by Arsenal's interest and the chance to play Champions League football with them. Everton felt powerless to keep him and they were forced to accept the £10m. "Mikel indicated to me that he wished to join Arsenal," said the manager, David Moyes. "I am very disappointed to lose him but the prospect of Champions League football was something I wasn't able to offer him."

Everton felt no little frustration, and not only because of the size of the fee. They could not understand why Arsenal had waited until the deadline day to make their move for a player that Wenger had long coveted, particularly as they had taken £35m for Fábregas two weeks ago. Nasri's £24m transfer to City went through last week. Arteta signed a five-year contract at Goodison last summer, worth £75,000 a week, which made him the highest paid player in the club's history. He accepted less to smooth his transfer to Arsenal on a four-year contract.

In some cases things can be agreed very late and as long as the paperwork is sent before 11pm the FA/PL/FL can ratify things a day or so later.

I had heard that the FL window closes at 5pm while the PL closes at 11pm (which is utterly ludicrous if true) can anyone confirm?

In. Sky could make the transfer window more interesting by getting Natalie to strip off if the total spend exceeds £100M.

On the other side of the coin, Kirsty Gallagher has gone for an unflattering 'wet look' hair do and shapeless red dress.

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas had insisted the transfer was nothing to do with him and that it was down to "club policy for the future".

That was in response to the signing of Kevin De Bruyne. He held his hands up and basically said I didn't want him, they did. Not the best way to work is it?

I wonder if will be as big a success for Chelsea as their last Belgian signing.......step forward 18yr old Romelu Lukaku, purchased in the Summef from Anderlecht for a knock down £13M (rising to £18M) and who has figured in a grand total of 8 matches for Chelsea (inc 4 cup games), scoring zero goals.

The rumour is that he was purchased to make Torres feel happy that he wasn't the only complete waste of money striker signed by Chelsea...... oh and in case anyone supporting that classy club want to say that "he is one for the future"....

Imagine spending £13M on a player and simply not playing him. Incredible.
