TBMStranded It's a no-brainer for Begovic to go there.
Take away the fact that he will believe he can oust Cortois anyway - if you look at Cech last year, he is still in line for 10-15 starts across all competitions. If he doesn't oust him in two years, and Cortois hasn't been tempted away by Barca or Real Madrid then Begovic can make a move to be 1st choice elsewhere with an enhanced reputation having received better coaching and only just reaching his peak as a GK.
If he'd stayed at Stoke, or moved to a 2nd tier PL club, he may have played more but his career would plateau - going to Chelsea opens up a lot more opportunity for him.
I understand that but why not choose Man Utd as there is more chance of him being number 1 there, than at Chelsea and the same scenario applies to what you say above.....
I'd have thought he'd have made an excellent signing for United or Liverpool, although I think the United will end up with Lloris as and when de Gea leaves but as much as I find it a bit crap all these players moving to happily squad players Stranded makes a pretty good point.
He'll make the jump up in quality without the pressure of settling in whilst playing as first choice and he'll probably get a very good chance of winning a cup medal and being involved in a title winning campaign. That's good experience for a keeper who's still only 28 and approaching what should be his peak. He's also just one injury away from getting a good long run in the side.
It's a good move for England too as it should mean Butland now gets a run as Stoke's number 1, especially as they've signed Given as the experienced cover.
